Job Requirements / Description

General Description: Manages Employee Benefits insurance accounts and services as their day-to-day contact.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Manage a book of business comprised of fully insured clients but may include some self-insured clients.
  2. Provide proactive, personalized support to assigned clients. Act as the primary contact between clients and insurance carriers.
  3. As needed, preparation of materials needed for client meetings. Educate, advise and aid clients on all Compliance topics. Including, but not limited to ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, 5500s and Health Care Reform.
  4. Set up new group insurance contracts for existing clients or new clients.
  5. Manage the renewal process including the preparation of appropriate contractual changes.
  6. Implement and manage programs recommended by technical resources (e.g. wellness, communications, strategies, pharmacy).
  7. May be responsible for the marketing and placement of new benefit products.
    1. Prepare client application for review.
    2. Determine most appropriate carriers.
    3. Analyze and compare carrier quotes and coverage offerings.
    4. Make recommendations to clients.
  8. Develop alternative strategies, plan modeling and cost reduction opportunities.
  9. Champion client cross-selling initiatives and develop customer accounts.
  10. Conduct on-site meetings to communicate or administer benefit plans.
  11. Coordinates, manages and attends client meetings both virtually and in person.
  12. Develop employee communications for renewal changes, enrollment procedures, benefit changes and/or clarifications.
  13. Resolution support and oversight for client issues such as contract clarifications and billing.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. 2-4 years experience in employee benefits industry or related marketplace. College degree preferred.
  2. Prior customer service experience is preferred.
  3. Must hold or be willing to earn life and disability insurance license.
  4. Comfortable with internet-based programs and Microsoft Office products.
  5. Ability to set priorities and manage deadlines.
  6. Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment with minimal instruction.
  7. Keep informed about industry information, technology and trends.
  8. Ability to carry out complex tasks with many concrete and abstract variables.
