Total Hours/week : 40.00

1st shift : 8AM - 5PM or 9AM to 6PM

Journeyman Machinist - CONTRACTOR

  • Steel toe shoes required.

  • The Journeyman Machinist will be working with the R&D team to develop new prototypes, fixtures, and tools to aide in the development of innovative solution. The candidate will join a team of passionate engineers looking to solve complex problems. The candidate will be responsible for setting up and maintaining the machine shop, programming and running a CNC machine and operating other tools and machinery

Responsibilities:

  • Setup of the machine shop and all equipment to ensure proper working order.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Operate various machine and instruments to produce precision parts
  • Perform manual and CNC mill machining, and manual lathe work as needed
  • Participate in the build of complex prototypes, fixtures and assemblies
  • Perform raw material purchases, tools, equipment as needed.
  • Repair, construct, replace and move material and machinery as needed
  • Clean and inspect work site and properly store tools
  • Provide valuable feedback to engineers in terms of machining and manufacturability
  • Communicate and participate in team meetings as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 4-6 (Four to Six) years related experience and /or equivalent of education and experience and/or a 4 year approved Apprentice Program for Journeyman Machinist.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in CNC programming and manual operation is required.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000 operating practices
  • Proficient in CNC programming of 2D and complex surfaces
  • Knowledge and understanding of material properties

  • Overall safety conscience, good communications skills, work well with a team, be a team player, flexibility and reliable and provide a feedback. work with a team of 17 others under Manager be able to lead.
  • Interview process, possible phone then onsite, final meeting (panel interview) onsite with 2-3 Engineers.
  • 6-8 month contract with potential for hire, depending on bus needs and performance
