Certified Pipeline Welder
Exciting opportunity to join our team constructing a new water pipeline in the breathtaking Grand Canyon, Arizona. We are looking for skilled Certified Pipeline welders who enjoy outdoor work. Job Description
Summary
Under the direction of the Foreman and Site Superintendent the Welder is responsible for cutting and welding metals and other materials. Inspects pipeline and structural welding required for construction, installation, operation, and maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.
  • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements, metal types, and situations in which the pipes will be used.
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
  • Layout, position, align, and secure parts prior to assembly. Modify pipes and parts (cut, bend, and reshape pipe sections and components as needed).
  • Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
  • Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces.
  • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead)
  • Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
  • Test welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.
  • Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
  • Collaborates with other construction professionals to ensure efficient completion of projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education/Experience
  • High School diploma / GED
  • Associate degree in welding and/or welding certificate
  • 4+ years' experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of all equipment and tools being used in the construction field.
  • Able to work in a productive manner independently and with others in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in electrical construction and/or installation.
  • Able to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to computer rate, ratio and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plan documents and specifications.
Working Conditions
  • Physical environment: While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to dust, noise, chemicals, and solvents. Exposure to power equipment.
  • Employee will be exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
  • Depending upon project requirements, working conditions may include working in confined spaces and/or working with heights.
Physical Demands
  • frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Essential functions of this job require employees to have the ability to quickly move hands, hand together with arm or two hands to grasp, manipulate or assemble objects. In addition, the ability to make precise coordinated movements of the fingers on one or both hands to grasp, manipulate or assemble very small objects is also required.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
