The Tax Manager is responsible for managing all tax-related activities within the organization. This includes overseeing tax compliance, tax planning, and tax reporting. The Tax Manager will also be involved in providing guidance on tax implications for various business decisions. Tax manager will manage an external tax vendor, and will be responsible for all filings across income, state, local, sales, use tax and any JV or acquisition related tax items.   • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all required tax returns (income tax, sales tax, property tax, etc.).
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Review and approve tax returns prepared by the tax team or external consultants.
  • Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize the organization's tax liabilities.
  • Analyze financial data and business operations to identify potential tax-saving opportunities.
  • Provide recommendations to senior management on tax-efficient strategies for business decisions.
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation of financial statements and reports for tax purposes.
  • Ensure proper documentation and support for all tax positions taken.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during tax audits and examinations.
  • Manage external tax consultants and tax firms and filing services
  • Build a small team of tax professionals over time, providing guidance and training as needed.
  • Assign tasks and projects, and monitor progress to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Act as the main point of contact for tax-related inquiries from internal stakeholders, external consultants, and government authorities.
  • Communicate complex tax concepts in a clear and understandable manner to non-tax professionals.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations that may impact the organization.
  • Conduct research on specific tax issues and provide recommendations.
  • Identify and assess tax-related risks and implement appropriate controls to mitigate them.
  • Develop and maintain tax policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as finance, legal, and operations to ensure tax considerations are integrated into business decisions.
