**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN)
**Job Specialty:** Labor & Delivery
**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
**Guaranteed Hours:** Not specified
**Experience:** Minimum of 1 year in the related nursing specialty preferred
**License:** RN License in state of employment or compact
**Certifications:**
- BLS required
- Current certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) or completion of AWHONN courses such as Intermediate FHM, Intermediate FHM Instructor, Advanced FHM Instructor, or Instructor Trainer (within specified time frame upon hire)
- ACLS and NRP certifications required (with specific timelines for completion based on experience level)
**Must-Have:**
- Attendance at New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire for all newly hired experienced RNs
- Successful completion of designated organizational entry competency validation and Perinatal Department-specific competency validation
- Completion of all annual competency verification requirements
**Job Description:**
- Practice independently and demonstrate an awareness of all relevant aspects of nursing situations in a clinical setting.
- Provide routine and complex nursing care, focusing on long-range goals or plans.
- Develop the ability to handle and manage contingencies in clinical nursing effectively.
- Make appropriate assignments and delegate responsibilities to other care providers to manage clinical situations.
- Utilize the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation, for assigned patients.
- Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
- Administer medications and treatments, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers, while identifying issues and resources.
- Plan for admission, discharge, and transfer needs to facilitate patient flow.
- Educate and train others on nursing operations, ethics, and healthcare regulations.
- Promote a safe environment through patient safety practices and guidelines.
- Provide evidence-based nursing care and participate in quality improvement activities.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare-related laws and regulations.
- Share experiences with maintaining electronic and paper-based patient documentation and ensure proper medical order processing.
- Ensure all medical equipment is in proper working order prior to use for patient safety.
- Incorporate patient safety guidelines to ensure positive outcomes and address safety concerns effectively.
