As an Electrical & Instrumentation apprentice in our Savannah, GA manufacturing plant, you will make an impact on the world with a fundamental focus on sustainability. As an Electrical & Instrumentation Apprentice, you will be a part of a team which manufacturers Fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) catalysts, co-catalysts and additives, Kaolin based microsphere intermediates, Alumina gel intermediates and more!

Starting on or about January 13th, 2025, you…

Will begin or continue an academic program at Savannah Technical College while working and learning on site in our Savannah, GA site from some of the best in the business. During your time here we don’t want you to sweat the small stuff so BASF will cover the entire cost of your educational program, including books!

When you’re not studying you will have opportunities to…

Work hands-on in our Savannah, GA manufacturing plant learning to:

  • Complete required repairs and tasks to instruments, controls, and electrical systems in an efficient, timely manner to restore or maintain safe operating capability.

  • Work with process equipment programs, Ladder logic, computer skills (email/word/excel/SAP) and pressure devices/DC VFD’s.

  • Be responsible for installing repairing and maintaining the Instrument and Electrical equipment, as well as encompassing the plant switch-gear installations, electrical and pneumatic system across site using drawings, manuals, or blueprints.

  • Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints and computer logic to trouble shoot production problems and resolve them.

  • Perform process control, sensing and monitoring system calibrations, record keeping and communicate any alterations to existing instrument (control, or electrical systems) to ensure all site records are current and proper documentation is completed.

  • Recommend changes to existing instruments, controls, electrical systems, or equipment to improve reliability, accuracy, or further optimize processes. Suggest tools, equipment, or methods to improve the safety and timeliness of system repairs.

  • Maintain acceptable housekeeping standards in the work area.

  • Complete Root Cause Failure Analysis investigations

  • Operate forklifts and manlifts.

If you...

  • Have a HS Diploma or GED

  • Work in a plant environment and lift 50lbs.

  • Can work at heights.

  • Can climb ladders and stairs (e.g., fixed ladder, vertical ladders).

  • Can work outside in various weather conditions.

  • Can work 8hr fixed shifts (days and on call after the apprenticeship).

  • Are willing to enroll in an academic program to launch a career in Manufacturing.
