PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Under the direction of the Regional Director, the Assisted Living Director leads and directs the overall operation of the assisted living community in accordance with resident needs, governmental regulations, and company policies, with the main objective of maintaining quality care for the residents and achieving business and financial profitability for the assisted living community.

LEADERSHIP CORE ROLES

  2. Fiscal Responsibility/Financial Profitability
    • Organizes and manages resources as well as considers costs and benefits when proposing new financial purchases.
    • Maintains accountability for department specific budget.
    • Has a clear understanding of how the census impacts the facility’s overall profitability.
    • Provides needed financial information to complete daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as requested.
    • Adherence to the department specific budget.
    • Reviews daily staffing patterns to ensure efficient and effective production in accordance with the budget and census.
  3. Clinical Processes & Procedures
    • Ensures that department specific policies and procedures are in compliance with federal and state rules and regulations.
    • Completes Federal and State mandated documentation in a timely manner.
  4. Staffing
    • Establishes and maintains relationships with local community and employee referral sources to assist with the development of a talent pipeline.
    • Ensures that shifts are filled with the correct personnel in order to provide adequate staff to meet resident needs.
    • Encourages staff to punch in and out at the correct time and avoid overtime when feasible.
  5. Survey Readiness
    • Participates and/or leads initiatives related to customer satisfaction and compliance as delegated.
    • Encourages staff to participate in survey preparation activities and assessments.

KEY POSITION SPECIFIC ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manage census and revenue development by maximizing total occupancy and strategically engaging private pay and managed care occupancy.
  2. Demonstrate successful expense management by ensuring labor hours are within budget parameters, overall expenses are at or below budget, and ensuring expense variances are addressed immediately.
  3. Manage sales and marketing with regular involvement in the sales strategy for the assisted living community and maintaining involvement in the community at large as a health care leader.
  4. Provide human resources management by ensuring employee orientation and training exceed state standards, monitoring all employee hiring and turnover, and managing worker’s compensation claims and safety management.
  5. Manage and oversee all scheduling of staff.
  6. Manage all in-services monthly and as needed for staff.
  7. Manage quality systems to include ensuring care and service systems are in place to meet the needs of residents, as well as monitoring resident and family satisfaction through the use of surveys.
  8. Ensure appropriate persons are notified in the event of an accident involving a resident, any changes in the resident’s physical, mental or emotional states, and changes in charges or billing.
  9. Provide regulatory management by ensuring deficiencies are at or below state benchmarks, ensuring no substandard deficiencies exist, providing timely reporting of critical events to Senior Living Director, the nurse consultant and regulatory agencies, and clearing all surveys on the first revisit.
  10. Negotiate and administer lease agreements.
  11. Review resident applications, certifications, rental collections and damage deposits.
  12. Coordinate admissions by giving community tours, processing required paperwork and coordinating preparation of the unit.
  13. Ensure quality of activities, food services, and general maintenance of the community.
  14. Participate in social/recreational activities that relate to the facility and its residents.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.
