Summary

Public Sector Consultants is hiring a Senior Policy Advisor with expertise in public policy and finance programs to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a background in designing and implementing financing programs in various sectors such as clean energy, housing, or water, as well as related public and regulatory policies.


As the senior policy advisor, you will provide thought leadership at the intersection of project finance programs and policy, cultivate relationships with other organizations working in this domain, and lead the development of project financing programs in Michigan and in other states. You will support projects focused on local, state, and national regulatory and policy issues as they relate to project financing program development and implementation. As the senior advisor, you should be intellectually curious, using your interest and experience to generate new project prospects.


Essential Duties

  • Demonstrates expertise in project finance program development and implementation with the ability to interpret and comment on related complex policy issues, supporting PSC’s position as a financing program development and policy thought leader.
  • Identifies opportunities to create or improve project financing programs in water, housing, energy, transportation, and other sectors in Michigan and other states.
  • Partners with PSC clean energy finance subject matter experts to lead the creation of clean energy financing organizations and programs across the United States, including assessing the feasibility and market need, creating business plans, establishing organizational governance structures and policies, and designing financing program offerings.
  • Supports PSC staff and clients that currently lead clean energy financing organizations with financing program design, capitalization, and implementation.
  • Cultivates relationships with public policy leaders by identifying project opportunities and prospective clients that align with the team’s goals, meeting with prospects and clients, working with project partners to develop the scope of work, and closing sales opportunities to help meet team business development goals.
  • Serves as a strategic advisor for multiple projects concurrently, including communicating with clients and partners, and collaborating with team members to ensure high-quality projects that are completed on time and on budget.
  • Serves as a strategic advisor to staff, including guiding the development and delivery of scopes of work, reviewing client deliverables and sales proposals, and providing relevant information to offer potential solutions.
  • Ensures services are delivered with consideration to the proper allocation of resources, profitability, high-quality output, and a high level of client satisfaction.
  • Develops and maintains an understanding of work undertaken across the firm to communicate what PSC does from a broad lens to external audiences and identify internal collaboration opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and ten years of relevant work experience.
  • MBA or advanced degree in relevant discipline preferred.
  • Energy, housing, or transportation policy and regulation experience is preferred.
  • Experience working on public policy topics with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience managing and mentoring others.

Compensation

  • Salary range: $135,000 – 175,000 commensurate with education and experience.
  • Eligibility for company profit share.
