ROLE SUMMARY

Ensures fluidity of warehouse processes and functions. Supports the warehouse supervisor by ensuring that all warehouse operations are performed in a safe, compliant, and productive manner. This includes communication within the team, with production, with planner/buyers, with quality, and with other closely related functions. Helps resolve issues and escalates as appropriate. Assists to train, mentor, coach and provide feedback for the warehouse team. Serves as a department subject matter expert (SME). Helps to drive continuous improvement in safety, shipping, receiving, inventory control, warehouse management, and cost reduction. Uses tools such as Microsoft Excel, ERP, WMS, Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, Gemba Walks, 5S, Value Stream Mapping and others to reduce risk, reduce cost, improve safety, productivity and efficiency.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports warehouse supervisor to oversee warehouse and stockroom activities and personnel, ensuring safe, accurate and timely receipt, storage, movement, shipment, transportation, and coordination of goods coming through the various warehouse, stockroom and other storage locations.
  • Ensures that all procedures and processes (manual and system driven) are followed by trained and authorized personnel.
  • Enforces fair and consistent policy to ensure a safe, and professional workplace.
  • Under the direction of the warehouse supervisor may provide some direct supervision to Warehouse Technicians, Material Handlers, and Line Suppliers in the areas of warehousing, cycle counting, material movement, logistics, shipping, receiving, transportation coordination, and inventory control.
  • Helps to drive improvements to warehouse, stockroom, inventory and logistics business processes and performance by incorporating lean principles and cycle time reduction strategies.
  • Assists to ensure GMP guidelines are implemented and followed. Maintains an “audit ready” environment. Takes the initiative to help out when required or needed within total warehouse operations.
  • Assists with cycle counting and other inventory activities to ensure inventory accuracy, barcode labeling for Advanced WMS, use of scanning equipment, and timely resolution and root cause analysis of discrepancies. Understands ERP and WMS system parameters such as: locations, directives, cycle counting rules, storage requirements, license plates, barcode labels, shipping documents, printer and scanner technology.
  • Assists with interviewing, onboarding and training of employees. May assist with appraising performance including recognition and rewards and feedback.
  • Assists with training, mentoring, and coaching in the areas of shipping, receiving, storage, cycle counting, communication, ERP and WMS skills, use of equipment and technology.
  • Serves as a department subject matter expert (SME). Inspires others to act in a manner that models Kindeva’s vision and values.
  • Actively participates in assigned Kaizen events to simplify business processes, apply 5S methodology, and improve warehouse efficiency.
  • May serve on the safety committee. Leads by example. Submits frequent safety suggestions.
  • Encourages “safety first” behavior and team member’s submittal of safety suggestions. Reports all incidents/accidents, participates in investigations and helps define and implement mitigation actions as appropriate.
  • As assigned may participate and provide input in the development of Kindeva warehouse, logistics and transportation strategies including ISO14000. Maintains complete and accurate records of warehouse related activities.
  • As assigned may participate in any major infrastructure change projects that relate to the SRW functions. Provides input as requested.
  • As trained and certified, may oversee shipments of hazardous and non-hazardous waste and sign related documents.
  • Back-up facilitator of department stand up meetings; leads evacuations during emergencies or power outages, in the absence of a supervisor. Reports warehouse personnel absences, call ins, etc. in the absence of a supervisor.

Fiscal Accountabilities: serves as a back up to the warehouse supervisor:

  • Authorizes inventory adjustments within approved limits.
  • Submits and coordinates freight claims.
  • Submits recommendations for the procurement of supplies within approved limits.
  • Authorizes basic warehouse and equipment repairs such as doors, pallet wrappers, scales, pallet inverter, dock leveler, water leaks, forklift service, box truck service and diesel fuel.
  • Collaborates on capital equipment needs and improvements associated with the warehouse.
  • Supports month end financial requirements for timely and accurate ERP transactions (shipments, receipts, inventory cycle counts, scrap transactions) and reporting of issues.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills & Experience

  • High school diploma/G.E.D. level of education.
  • 5+ years demonstrated related job experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, transportation, picking, kitting, staging and cycle counting.
  • 2+ years experience working in a GMP or other highly regulated manufacturing or distribution work environment (pharmaceutical, aerospace, medical device, food).
  • 1+ years Prior Lead or Supervisor experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills to interface with internal customers, management and outside vendors.
  • Strong analytical/critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively both written and verbal in English.
  • Intermediate computer skills that include Microsoft Office, ERP Systems, WMS, QMS.
  • Prior forklift certification and demonstrated ability to safely operate either standup, sit down style or both. The ability to become forklift certified within first 30 days of employment.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • AA Degree.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of material flow, GMP guidelines, accuracy and cycle counting.
  • Significant prior use of ERP System and barcode scanning equipment.
  • Advanced forklift operation skills (sit down and stand up). Train the Trainer forklift certification or ability to become certified to this level.
  • California Hazardous Waste Management Cert 22CCR 66265.16 and relevant requirements of 40 CFR.
  • General understanding of supply chain fundamentals and materials management fundamentals. APICS/ASCM coursework towards certification.
  • Warehouse optimization: layout, design, efficiency, flow, technology, equipment, safety.
  • Team coaching, mentoring, training, cross training.
  • 1+ yrs experience in Continuous Improvement methodology such as Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Total Quality Management Systems (TQMS), Yellow Belt/Green Belt.
