Job Requirements / Description

The diverse, mission-driven, and hardworking staff at the National Women’s Law Center has led the way for almost every major legal and policy victory for women in the last 50 years. We use the law in all its forms to change culture and drive solutions for gender inequity. Every day we work to break down the barriers that harm all of us—especially women of color, LGBTQ people, people with disabilities, and low-income women and families—and we need you with us to continue this fight, especially at this critical moment when the Law Center is expanding its reach, its programs, and its staff!

This critical work wouldn’t be possible without our staff. We offer a comprehensive benefits package with generous vacation and sick leave and fully paid family and medical leave, teleworking options, an employee assistance program, 403(b) employer contributions, professional development opportunities, flexible hours, and more. Additionally, our compensation framework is specifically designed to ensure transparency and standardization, with clear opportunities for career growth.

NWLC Benefits Summary

Employees who work at least 20 hours/week and their legal spouses, domestic partners, and dependent children are all eligible for our medical and dental coverage. Our medical insurance includes virtual visits, mental health services, and more. We also offer voluntary vision coverage. NWLC covers the cost of dental and vision insurance at 100%.

  2. Leave

NWLC provides annual leave accrued on a calendar year basis, starting with an accrual amount of annual leave up to 20 days and sick leave accrual up to 20 days in the first year. We also offer fully paid family and medical leave.

NWLC recognizes federal holidays including New Year’s Day, the day after New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Indigenous People’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. We are closed the week of Thanksgiving and the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day. We also provide three “floating holidays” which employees can take at any point during the year. NWLC closes the last two Fridays in July and every Friday in August for summer Fridays.

  4. Teleworking and Flexible Working Hours

Staff have flexibility regarding when they start and end their day to accommodate care responsibilities, commuting, and other personal matters. NWLC’s telework policy is currently under review as we prepare to move into our new office at 1350 Eye Street N.W., Washington DC, in March 2023. The assumption is that all roles are based in D.C. and will be required to work in person at least monthly.
