Responsibilities and Duties:

An IT Support Specialist, also known as a technical support engineer, plays a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing an organization’s IT infrastructure. Here are some key responsibilities and duties typically associated with this role:

  • Resolving Technical Issues : Troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and network problems to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintaining Installations : Installing, configuring, and maintaining computer systems, software, and networks.
  • Providing Support : Offering technical support to both internal employees and external customers, often via phone, email, or webchat.
  • Improving IT Systems : Continuously working on improving IT systems and processes to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Documentation : Keeping detailed records of technical issues and solutions and updating technical documentation and manuals.

Skills and Experience:

  • Technical skills: A solid understanding of computer hardware and software, networking, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with operating systems like Windows and knowledge of security practices is essential.
  • Experience: Relevant work experience in a technical support role is important. Hands-on experience with hardware, software, and network systems is required.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, using professional jargon only when appropriate.
  • Customer service skills: Providing support to both internal colleagues and external customers.
  • Problem-solving skills: Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve problems using logical, creative, and systematic approaches.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field.
  • English and Spanish desirable.
  • Experience in IT support and customer service roles.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with end-users effectively.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware components and basic networking concepts.
