About Community Forward SF: For over 45 years, Community Forward SF has been at the forefront of community-based care providing innovative, inclusive, and compassionate services for the chronically homeless and disenfranchised members of our community. Our network of programs is designed to work in tandem to meet people at every stage of their need, with a special focus on three core populations: cis and transgender women, older adults, and those with severe medical or mental health needs. Currently, our wide range of services includes a mental health outpatient clinic, a gender-specific wellness and recovery program, permanent supportive housing, a medical respite program, and the only 24/7 drop-in center for women experiencing homelessness in San Francisco. Our mission is to help the most vulnerable individuals get off the streets, find comprehensive services, and achieve the stability they need to thrive.

Position Summary: As part of the External Relations and Philanthropy team, the Development Coordinator facilitates and coordinates Community Forward SF’s fundraising processes and activities. This position primarily works behind the scenes to support the organization’s development operations, donor database, communications, and external events.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Database and Gift Processing

  • Correctly process, record, and acknowledge all gifts, pledges, and pledge payments.
  • Maintain the Salesforce database to ensure accurate, updated, and relevant constituent information.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development and the Finance department for monthly reconciliation.
  • Produce exports, queries, and reports from Salesforce for all fundraising and communication initiatives.
  • Serve as the department’s expert on Salesforce; develop and implement plans and procedures to improve the integrity and use of the database.
  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Development and Executive Suite in prospect research, donor tracking, information management, reporting, and special events.
  • Explore opportunities to use other technologies and services to achieve departmental goals.

Social Media Management & Communications

  • I n coordination with the Director of Development, execute on the communications plan and draft content for external communications and social networking platforms.
  • Serve as the liaison between the team and graphic designer with the creation of marketing materials, including Direct Mail campaigns, annual reports, and other fundraising collateral.
  • Maintain Community Forward’s website, making periodic updates to content and staffing pages.
  • Use creative means to plan, organize, and implement a range of social media content on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  • Develop a content calendar for social media sites. Manage and audit the data analytics for overall social media performance.
  • Stay informed and current on existing and emerging social media platforms to grow Community Forward’s social media presence on the internet.

Event Support

  • Serve as the department’s expert on Greater Giving software and ensure data ties between Greater Giving and Salesforce.
  • Ensure accurate and thorough data management associated with the Drag Show event.
  • With the support of the Director of Development, manage event database creation, guest registration, check-in and check-out, reconciliation, and all associated data during the Drag Show.
  • Manage guest list reports, communication lists, and gift entry and acknowledgment for the Drag Show and any other development community events throughout the year.
  • Provide support to overall event planning, organization, and logistics for the Drag Show including check-in table, table assignments, and Fund A Nee d.

Volunteer and Corporate Relations

  • With the Development team, create and implement a minimum of four corporate volunteer experiences annually.
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies that will attract corporate groups focusing on current corporate donors and prospects in coordination with the Director of Development.
  • Plan and organize volunteer activities, including site coordination, logistical arrangements, purchasing supplies, promoting the activities, scheduling, and being a point of contact for activities.
  • Input new volunteer contact information into Salesforce and provide quarterly reports on volunteer activities.
  • Recognize volunteers and their service through an appreciation event and communications.

In-Kind Donation Management

  • Create and maintain shopping wishlists on platforms such as Amazon and Target
  • Coordinate the acceptance and logistics of in-kind donations
  • Acknowledge and send thank-yous for all in-kind donations
  • Record and track in-kind donations in Salesforce

Other Responsibilities

  • Support with donor cultivation and stewardship activities (for example impact reports, event invitations, etc.)
  • Support CFSF Leadership with coordinating and scheduling internal and external meetings.
  • Help the team prepare for meetings with individuals, foundations, government and institutional funders, and prospects.
  • Occasionally act as a Community Forward ambassador with external partners and vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-3 years of work experience, ideally in fundraising position/nonprofit organization or has an interest in fundraising, research, event planning, and/or non-profit organizations
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Journalism or Communications
  • A commitment to Community Forward’s mission and values
  • Organized with strong attention to detail and superior problem-solving abilities
  • Exceptional time-management and organizational skills, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Ability to foster and maintain working relationships built on mutual trust and respect with staff, community members, guests, and donors
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently under a direct supervisor and collaboratively
  • Strong research skills and experience with Internet research
  • Technical savvy with a variety of office technologies (e.g., Google Suite, Zoom, Microsoft)
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to continuously acquire new competencies and accept new challenges
  • TB clearance and proof of COVID-19 vaccination required within 7 days of hire
