Guilmette Pulver is a dynamic and growing law firm that provides sophisticated legal services to a diverse client base, including businesses, high-net-worth individuals, and non-profit organizations. Our Tax Practice Group advises clients on a wide range of tax matters, including transactional planning and tax controversies. We are seeking a talented Tax Attorney  with 1-5 years of experience  to join our team. We have a 1,600 annual billable hour requirement.


Key Responsibilities:


Transactional Tax Planning:

  • Advise on the tax aspects of mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other business transactions.
  • Structure business formations, reorganizations, and equity transactions for tax efficiency.
  • Provide guidance on federal, state, and local tax compliance matters, including sales tax, employment tax, and property tax.
  • Draft and review legal documents such as tax opinions, disclosures, and partnership/LLC agreements.


Tax Controversy & Audit Representation:

  • Represent clients during IRS and state tax audits, appeals, and administrative proceedings.
  • Respond to IRS notices, subpoenas, and information requests.
  • Assist with penalty abatements, voluntary disclosures, and other tax compliance strategies.
  • Negotiate with IRS agents, appeals officers, and state tax authorities to resolve disputes.


Client Advisory:

  • Provide proactive tax advice to clients on ongoing business operations, individual tax matters, and regulatory changes.
  • Collaborate with corporate, real estate, and estate planning attorneys to address tax implications across practice areas.


Qualifications:


Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in Georgia or ability to obtain admission with 60 days of starting with the Firm.


Experience:

  • 1-5 years of relevant experience in tax transactions  and IRS audits  (either in law firms, accounting firms, or in-house legal teams).


Skills:

  • Strong understanding of the Internal Revenue Code, Treasury Regulations, and IRS administrative guidance.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local tax issues, including corporate, partnership, and individual taxation.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and drafting skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly to clients and colleagues.
