About Client: A well-established and respected legal practice based in Southern California. They practice Special Education; they advocate for children with disabilities to ensure they receive the education and services they are legally entitled to receive. They are passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of clients and their families.
Job Description: They are seeking a full-time Attorney to represent children with special needs. They will accept applications from newly admitted attorneys. In this role, you will attend IEPs, mediations, hearings, write complaints and be a crucial member of our legal team.
This is a hybrid role with 75% being remote and 25% being travel to the office and client meetings (local to area).
Responsibilities
- Facilitate virtual or telephonic client intake meetings
- Attend Individualized Educational Program (IEP) meetings as needed
- Communicate with various stakeholders, such as school districts, parents and other attorneys via telephone and email, as needed
- Attend client meetings, mediations, hearings and resolution sessions, as needed
- Perform legal research, client document review and proofread legal documents for accuracy and completeness
- Draft various documents pertaining to special education: complaints, memorandums and motions
- Maintain client relationships with regular touch base meetings and ensure client records are complete and accurate using a file management system
- Interface professionally with all members of the firm
- File all electronic documents as needed
- Prepare case analysis as needed
- Prepare for each phase of litigation in a thorough and detailed manner, as needed
- Assist Attorneys with evolving tasks and responsibilities, as needed
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active member of the California State Bar.
- Excellent written, communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a dedicated legal team.
- Must be willing to travel to the Inland Empire.
