S2 Global, an OSI Systems Company is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to work in its Torrance, CA location.
S2 Global is the leading provider of turnkey, state-of-the-art screening solutions for inspection and security. The solution is based on three core elements of concept of operations, training and software. This software key to the solution and is highly unique to the industry.
We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and support deployments of our CertScan platform. You will be part of a systems engineering team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet business objectives and SLAs. The Network Engineer role is to design, implement, and ensure the stability and integrity of equipment used to provide the data transmissions network required to enable the service provisioned by the customer while ensuring the continuous improvement of these services using industry best practices. This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. This position will work both independently and on a team on the design, installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion.
Responsibilities
30% Design and deploy region LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless APs and other hardware while providing protection from disaster through redundancy and recovery procedures while working both independently and on a team.
30% Analyze network performance, troubleshoot issues, and make the appropriate decisions independently to repair as needed.
20% Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
20% Maintain and manage configurations including ensuring proper documentation is completed and process is followed.
- Design and deploy region LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless APs and other hardware.
- Work closely with the customers IT team to meet and exceed Compliance and Design standards.
- Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
- Continually assess current state of the network against industry best practices and provide recommendations to improve throughput and reduce failure through the use of redundancy and process.
- Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and processes for network administration, utilization, and disaster recovery to include continual improvement.
- Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to procure network products and services.
- Work individually or with a team on new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
- Maintain and manage configurations including ensuring proper documentation is completed and process is followed.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues and make the necessary decisions required to repair as needed.
- Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, firewalls, and other network appliances.
- Configure networks to ensure reliable operation and availability for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
- Maintain network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, VPN concentrators to include associated software and peripheral devices.
- Practice network asset management using CMDB, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
- Monitor and periodically test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
- Participate in managing all network security solutions.
- Perform network and security audits ensuring all systems are backed up and recovery procedures are available.
- Up to 50% travel may be required.

Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university; or certifications plus related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in networking and network security including VPN's, enterprise routing and L3-7 switching. Technical knowledge of Monitoring Systems (Orion,
- Vcenter), Network Equipment (Cisco, Aruba, Fortinet,etc), Servers (Rac, Blade), Hyper-V, VMWare, Windows Server, SQL Server, Storage (NetApp, EMC, HP, etc), Ceph, Active Directory. AWS cloud experience desirable.
- 5+ years in enterprise network design and implementation
- 5+ years in firewall/switch technologies
- 5+ years in MPLS or VPLS network design
- 5+ years in QoS design and implementation
- 5+ years in EIGRP, BGP and OSPF
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as IP subnets, bandwidth, load, capacity, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Preferred Certifications - ITIL Foundations v3, CCNA, CCDA, CCDP, CCNP
- Cisco, Fortinet preferred or any industry standard network certification
- Cybersecurity Certifications such as CISSP, Security+ given additional consideration
Other Skills and Abilities
- Proven ability to make appropriate independent decisions and implement as needed.
- Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN design and implementation.
- Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
- Good, hands-on technical knowledge of network hardware and operating systems, including Cisco routers and switches, Fortinet firewalls and switches and VPN concentrators.
- Good technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards, including IPv6.
- Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Able to conduct research into networking issues and products as required.
- Ability to present complex technical ideas in user-friendly language.
