As a member of the Global Engineering and Construction organization the Process Engineer will be reponsible to provide technical leadership, design oversight and technical direction in the safe, effective and efficient execution of capital projects including new construction and/or upgrades to existing equipment. This individual will function as a subject matter expert (SME) and if needed lead a group of project engineers. This individual must have a strong background in manufacturing, and possess the ability to design, specify, procure, install and commission new equipment.
The ideal candidate shall have 5 - 7 years' experience process design and scope development, supervising project teams, providing guidance to project planning and scheduling, budget development, and overseeing mid to large capital construction projects from inception through startup. To be effective in this role suitable candidates must have engineering experience and working knowledge of systems and equipment related to bulk material handling, milling/grinding, pulp processing, machining, autoclaving, coatings, and high speed material handling equipment.
Projects will occur across all US operating plants and therefore require up to 50% travel.
What You'll Do:
The Process Engineer responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare and issue RFP's to engineering consultants, equipment vendors, contractors and / or EPCs
- Internally develop/review approve piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
- Develop / manage to the scope, schedule, and budget
- Conduct engineering reviews with consultants, vendors, and contractors
- Effectively conduct PHA's, HAZOP's and JSA's for all processes and equipment
- Ensure Management of Change is adhered to on all capital projects
- Support Front End Loading (FEL) process for new Capital Expenditures
- Verify the fulfillment of CER requirements
- Coordinate the creation and dissemination of major equipment specifications developed by SME's to the procurement team
- Engage procurement to define and manage vendor deliverables
- Review and approve vendor invoices for payment
- Ensure that all equipment, valves, and instrumentation are procured based on specification and schedule.
- Coordinate communication with key stakeholders throughout the project life-cycle
- Define and coordinate commissioning and start-up activities.
- Identify and assist in coordinating solutions to operational problems after start-up.
- Provide monthly progress reports and financial updates on assigned projects
- Participate in planning and coordination meetings for project progression and reporting
- Understands applicable construction codes for the plant location, with assistance from engineering support staff.
- Works with engineering/drafting to resolve field engineering design issues and constructability concerns.
- There will be 50% domestic and the possibility of occasional international travel.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 -7 years' experience in a project or design engineering role focused on mechanical equipment or equipment systems.
- Experience in Industrial Manufacturing Environment preferred
Additional Qualifications Preferred:
- Project Engineering experience with an EPC contractor
- Strong multi-tasking skills, analytical skills, project delivery & financial skills
- PMP Certification
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Familiarity and experience with site construction management
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team-based environment
- Encourage Voice of Operator input/Feedback to define functionality of equipment
- Plant and/or equipment layout experience with Maintenance access and functionality in mind.
- Understanding of construction techniques, trade coordination, and phasing.
