OPPORTUNITY SUMMARY
The Lead Restaurant Dining Room Assistant assists the Front of House Instructors and Restaurant Management with all service aspects of CIA Restaurants while maintaining high service standards and providing professional, courteous and timely customer service. The Lead Restaurant Dining Room Assistant will expand their knowledge in multiple restaurant tasks, such as reservation system, guest relations, professional communication, and steps of service.
SHIFTS
  • Between Tuesday - Saturday 4:00pm to 10:30pm
ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists Assistant Restaurant Manager with scheduling tasks (With guidance and approval from ARM, Exempt staff must send schedule to Earn and Learns)
  • Assist with tracking hours and following up on missed punches utilizing SETA. (Exempt Staff Approval Required)
  • Assist with the training of Tier 1 Restaurant Dining Room Assistants in coordination with Faculty and Staff
  • Assists guests by anticipating their needs while they are in the restaurant or attending any other program that we are offering at that time.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of workstations.
  • Completes opening and closing side work as assigned with the goal of contributing to an organized, well-prepared work environment.
  • Seeks and develops a strong food and beverage knowledge base.
  • Maintains proper service standards during the dining experience.
  • Demonstrate standards of proper food safety and sanitation.
  • Assists faculty, students, and staff with the operation of point of sale (POS) systems.
  • Assists faculty, students, and staff with banquet preparation/execution and dining room/café/pantry operation.
  • Assists faculty, students, and staff with management of equipment and supplies.
  • All other duties as assigned.
PREREQUISITES
  • Completed Restaurant Operations, with Restaurant Staff/Instructor recommendation for lead role
  • OR, Completed E&L Restaurant Assistant contract, minimum 1 semester, with approved rehiring for lead role
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in Front of House dining room service.
  • Knowledge of OpenTable Reservation System.
  • Knowledge of MICROS POS System.
  • Serve-safe certified or equivalent
  • Faculty referral
  • Completed Restaurant Service and Hospitality Management class, OR, have minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year experience in Front of House dining room service.

  • Ability to maintain professionalism and adhering to standards of operational excellence, safety, efficiency and educational goals set by the CIA.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with guests, students, and faculty/staff.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to be adaptable, dependable and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule including overtime on days, nights and weekends.
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry 30 lbs.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry 50 lbs. with assistance.
  • Ability to stand and work for extended periods of time during customary service hours.

Successful applicant must be able to perform all related functions of the assignment which may include working nights and weekends, ability to bend reach and stand for long periods of time, lifting and carrying of items up to fifty (50) pounds, and the ability to withstand high ambient temperatures.
