JOB DESCRIPTION

The Human Resources Director will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies and activities, while ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization's mission and talent strategy. This position will create the strategy and provide business partner support for the National Accounts Business Unit, Commercial Business Unit, Independent Business Unit, & Sales Excellence team (NCIS), along with supporting the CBG Finance team for the Consumer Brands Group.

This role will be the strategic business partner to the Sr. Vice President of Sales (SVP), Sr. Vice President of Finance, three (3) Vice Presidents of Sales (VP), and their direct reports and ensures business goals and objectives are achieved.

This role supports employees throughout the United States and Canada. This role will be located out of the Sherwin-Williams Headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio.

Job duties include contact with other employees and access to confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs the annual Business Unit HR Planning/Organizational Review and partners with the Business to create the Employee Engagement Action Plan.
  • Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the business’s goals and strategy and ensures the training, staffing/succession plans, and retention initiatives are aligned to support their needs.
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management to build a high-performance workforce.
  • Facilitates or assists with interviewing, onboarding, engaging, and retaining talent.
  • Designs and drives, in conjunction with the Sr. Vice President of Human Resources, the Consumer North America Human Resources strategy.
  • Directs management of performance appraisal and/or other feedback systems.
  • Advises and counsels SVPs & VPs, Directors, and Managers concerning policies and practices, organizational structure, and business unit goals and objectives.
  • In partnership with the HR Manager maintains an effective Affirmative Action Program and ensures compliance.
  • This position develops effective employee relations strategies that foster a safe, positive, productive, and engaging work environment. As necessary, will investigate and recommend action on critical incidents, EEO, and non-harassment complaints.
  • Ensures training for Supervisors and Managers on employment legal issues, employee development, and management leadership skills.
  • Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization's human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
  • Partners with Recruitment COE, Leave of Absence, Fleet, Employee Relations, Legal, Finance, and Sales Excellence team. Provide all necessary coaching, support, and performance management to direct report (HR Manager), including goal setting, appropriate feedback, and performance appraisal.

QUALIFICATIONS

FORMAL EDUCATION:

Required:

  • Must have a bachelor's degree or higher or have at least six (6) years of work experience in human resources.

Preferred:

  • Have a bachelor's degree or higher in Human Resources, Human Resources Management, Organizational/Industrial Psychology, or Business Management.
  • Have a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future.
  • Must have a meeting or exceed expectations on last year’s performance appraisal (For internal applicants only).
  • Must have at least six (6) years of work experience in human resources.
  • Have prior work experience maintaining an Affirmative Action Plan.
  • Have prior experience managing the talent management process.
  • Have at least one (1) year of work experience in recruiting, including working with applicant tracking systems and establishing recruitment processes.
  • Have prior experience conducting investigations and providing recommendations for corrective action.
  • Have prior work experience ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.

Preferred:

  • Prior Human Resources experience supporting a sales team.
  • Prior experience supervising an employee or employees.

TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

  • Have prior work experience using an HRIS and/or ATS.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience using a timekeeping system.

  • 30%
