Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide project coordination and management support to department activities and projects.
  • Prepare and maintain a variety of reports, records, and files related to assigned activities; maintain data for long and short-range planning; compose written and oral communications to convey information in accordance with District policies and procedures.
  • Review, analyze, and make recommendations for professional services contracts.
  • Assist in performing fiscal analysis related to facilities planning and construction accounting, budgeting, invoicing, and payment requests.
  • Monitor accounts to assure funds are appropriately expended and assure compliance with applicable laws, codes, rules, and regulations.
  • Serve as a liaison between District personnel and outside agencies regarding facilities planning activities; communicate with District staff, consultants, and representatives of public agencies regarding planning requirements, schedules, and issues.
  • Perform a variety of special projects as directed; research, apply, and maintain current knowledge of laws, codes, rules, and regulations related to assigned activities.
  • Utilize a variety of advisory data and information including budgets and schedules, to assist in making appropriate decisions supporting the interests of the District.
  • Assist in construction closeout in coordination of warranties, as-builts, training, and attic stock.
  • Operate a computer and assigned software to input data and develop reports; drive a personal vehicle to conduct work and visit sites.
  • Assist in the preparation of Request for Proposals (RFP) and Request for Qualifications (RFQ); analyze the scope and cost of contractor and consultant proposals; review project plans and specifications prior to bids; participate in pre-bid walks and bid openings.
  • Attend and represent the District in a variety of meetings, conferences, and governmental hearings as assigned; prepare and deliver oral presentations as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Assistant Project Manager in the Education Sector is required.
  • Knowledge of project development, design-phase management, construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles is required.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products, and experience with project-related systems such as Prolog and Primavera are required.
  • Division of the State Architect (DSA) experience is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency with various document control systems, as well as new construction and modernization of educational facilities is preferred.
  • Construction Manager in Training (CMIT) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) preferred.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including education, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. The Salary range for this position is $95,000-$118,000.
