About The Role

Fox is hiring an SRE to help build infrastructure and platforms to support our direct to consumer APIs for live events such as the Super Bowl, World Cup, World Series and March Madness. The engineer will help solve thundering herd problems including partnering with the application team to load test, scale up and scale back down again.

A collaborative, peacemaker mindset is a must as we foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement for the team.

A Snapshot Of Your Responsibilities

  1. Serve as technical SME for the implementation and operation of cloud-based platforms including EKS and other AWS services supporting live direct to consumer APIs and solving associated thundering herd problems including load testing, scaling up and scaling back down again.
  2. Work closely with Video & Player Engineering and 3rd party teams to help implement scalability, cost visibility and observability in the platform.
  3. Perform post-incident analysis to identify root causes and potential workarounds/solutions.
  4. Be fluid and open to change and evolving processes and tools.

What You Will Need

  1. Experience with EKS, Kubernetes and AWS including IAM, autoscaling, networking and load balancing/request routing.
  2. Experience with solving scalability problems both up and down including thundering herd scenarios.
  3. Experience with git workflows and infrastructure as code (Terraform).
  4. Proficient with troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  5. Proficient with at least 1 programming language.
  6. Strong analytical skills.
  7. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  8. Strong teamwork and willingness to collaborate with others.

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

  1. BS or equivalent.
  2. AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification.

SHIFT:
Coverage during NFL Sundays and other marquee live events throughout the year.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $95,000.00-125,500.00 annually for California. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
