Job Description
As the Senior Director of Software Engineering, you will be instrumental in driving the company’s technological advancements in biotechnology. This leadership role requires you to connect cutting-edge software development with biotech applications. You will lead a team of skilled engineers, work closely with various departments, and oversee the creation of advanced software systems that align with the company mission. Your role will involve strategic planning, technical leadership, and the development of efficient systems capable of managing complex biological data
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the software engineering team.
- Develop and execute software strategies aligned with company goals.
- Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of software systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software with biotech processes.
- Ensure software quality, reliability, scalability, and regulatory compliance.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
- Design and implement robust data management infrastructure.
- Oversee the development and integration of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Lead DevOps initiatives to optimize development and deployment processes.
- Manage and optimize the AWS cloud environment for scalability and cost-effectiveness.
- Coordinate with IT to ensure seamless software system integration.
- Drive the implementation of data visualization tools for actionable insights.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field; Master’s preferred.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years in leadership roles.
- Strong background in software architecture and design patterns.
- Experience in biotech or healthcare software development is preferred.
- Proficiency in Python and in-depth knowledge of AWS services and cloud architecture.
- Excellent communication and team management skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Extensive experience in designing and managing data management infrastructure.
- Proficiency in LIMS implementation and customization for biotech applications.
- Strong background in DevOps practices and tools (e.g., CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience in overseeing IT operations and infrastructure.
