Job Description – Engineer Solutions Design and New Business Implementation

Location: Vacaville, CA or McDonough, GA

Role Overview:

As an Engineer in Solutions Design and New Business Implementation, you will be responsible for designing and developing supply chain and warehouse solutions for new or existing businesses. You will play a key role in translating customer requirements into operational processes while delivering the highest quality of service.

Leveraging industry expertise and best practices, you will develop innovative logistics solutions that meet customer specifications in terms of cost and performance. Your designs will encompass warehouse layout, process flows, and labor and material handling requirements, including the integration of robotics solutions where feasible.

You will collaborate with sales and operations teams to provide technical expertise, attend customer calls and meetings, and manage global-scale projects. Strong time management, organizational skills, and the ability to inspire and motivate teams are essential.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Proposal Management: Design and price customer RFPs, incorporating historical data and client-specific requirements.
  • Design and Implementation: Develop and implement comprehensive warehousing and fulfillment solutions, including project planning.
  • Product Knowledge: Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of contract logistics products, pricing mechanisms, and market trends.
  • Supply Chain Optimization: Analyze and improve transportation routes to optimize supply chains, reduce costs, and enhance service levels.
  • Presentation Skills: Deliver clear and compelling presentations to stakeholders, explaining complex solutions effectively.
  • Performance Measurement: Establish baselines and implement performance measures to improve project outcomes.
  • Advanced Analytics: Use advanced analytics to drive continuous improvement initiatives and optimize supply chain performance.
  • Sales Support: Support the sales process by contributing to value propositions and client proposals.
  • Process Improvement: Identify process gaps and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency and pricing strategies.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned to support team and company objectives.


Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Visio, AutoCAD, and transportation/warehouse management systems
  • Strong analytical and technical skills in simulation, inventory tools, and data visualization
  • Knowledge of transportation analysis and network analysis tools


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, supply chain, or equivalent required
  • MBA and/or Industrial Engineering preferred.

Travel Requirements:

Travel to company sites or customer locations may be required during the sales process.


Warehouse Design and Operations Engineer

We seek a highly motivated professional to join our team and lead warehouse design and improvement projects. The ideal candidate will possess high levels of academic and professional achievement, communication skills, analytical capabilities, and a strong interest in consulting.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with clients and project teams to solve business needs by analyzing and synthesizing data (sales, inventory, warehouse logs).
  • Design state-of-the-art fulfillment centers using advanced storage and material handling systems.
  • Develop business cases for automation and warehouse design improvements.
  • Map and improve fulfillment processes and quantify cost savings.
  • Select and implement new warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Conduct best practice audits of distribution centers and stay up-to-date on warehousing innovations.
  • Support business development through proposals and presentations.

Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree (civil, mechanical, or industrial preferred).
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in design/warehouse operations.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills, especially in presenting analytical findings.
  • Ability to work independently and learn across industries.

Preferred skills:

  • Experience with warehouse technology solutions, 3PL warehousing, and fulfillment centers.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Excel, Access, R, or Python, with experience in data visualization (PowerBI, Tableau).
  • Knowledge of lean/six sigma principles and project management.

Travel:

Comfortable with 25-50% travel depending on project requirements.
