The Impact You'll Have:

As a Graduate Transportation Engineer you will work with a licensed Professional Engineer focused on helping you grow your skills while delivering roadway design projects for state, county, and local clients. You will be involved in all aspects of transportation design including road, drainage, traffic, and construction staging. You will work closely with mentors and peers invested in the growth and success of your career.

Responsibilities:

  • Geometric Design - developing typical sections, alignments and profiles for roadways, bikeways, and pedestrian facilities.
  • Final Road Design - determining and detailing typical sections, superelevation, guardrail, and other roadway components.
  • Hydraulic Design - modeling hydrology and determining the location and size of culverts, storm sewer systems, and other drainage structures.
  • Traffic Engineering - developing signing, pavement marking, and maintenance of traffic plans.
  • Plans - producing biddable, buildable plan sets for construction.
  • Specifications - identifying applicable standard specs and boiler plate special provisions and writing unique special provisions to augment the plans.
  • Cost Estimating - preparing quantities and researching historic unit prices to estimate construction costs.
  • CADD - utilizing Microstation/Geopak, Open Roads Designer, and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D to draft and model designs and prepare plans.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (or related engineering field)
  • 0-4 years of experience in civil engineering
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent critical thinking skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Drive for excellence
  • MicroStation or AutoCAD experience
  • Roadway design or construction experience
