Job Description
Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is seeking an Engineer focused on the development, design, fabrication, assembly and testing of scale-up equipment for the Materials, NDE & Systems Evaluation group. In this position, the candidate will be involved in the design, fabrication, assembly, and operation of scale-up or mock-up equipment to simulate facility processes such as mixing/settling, heat transfer, filtration studies and fluid system/mechanical testing. Equipment may be designed for radioactive environments.
Responsibilities
  • Tasks include CAD/design/drawing development, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), ASME B31.3 code reviews, piping/tubing runs, valve/pump selection, assembly, machine shop interface, equipment calibrations and hazard/safety reviews.
  • The successful candidate will work with principal investigators to define scope, develop cost/schedule estimates, execute work, create novel proposals to address DOE and other agency funding calls and help mentor junior staff members.
  • Author internal/external reports where possible and effectively communicate experimental results and conclusions to peers, management and customers.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
BS + 7-9 yrs; MS + 6-8 yrs; PhD + 5-7 yrs
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with large-scale equipment design and mock-up work is preferred.
