8:30a-5p / Full Time / 40 Hours

The Pharmacy Specialist of Drug Policy and Formulary Management practices as a clinical expert in specialty practice area(s). This position is responsible for system-wide formulary and medication-use oversight at EHC with a focus on the following activities:

  1. Supporting activities that impact the health-system formulary (e.g. monograph development, class reviews, therapeutic interchanges, maintenance of online formulary).
  2. Effectively using internal and external data to support evidence-based decision making.
  3. Evaluating the cost implications of formulary and medication-related changes and incorporating financial considerations into the decision-making process.
  4. Proactively engaging stakeholders to vet and optimize formulary and medication-related changes.
  5. Effectively communicating formulary and medication-related changes to stakeholders.
  6. Conducting medication-use evaluations (MUEs) to evaluate and optimize medication use.
  7. Supporting activities of the Formulary Implementation Group by gathering and vetting information to support medication-related builds in EPIC.
  8. Supporting drug shortage activities by developing evidence-based mitigation strategies in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  9. Supporting compliance with regulatory requirements for medications with Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS) by developing decision support, policies and procedures, training modules, etc.
  10. Developing and maintaining medication-related policies and procedures.
  11. Serving as a resource for drug information inquiries.
  12. Serving as preceptor for pharmacy residents and students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Current Georgia pharmacy license or reciprocation eligibility for licensure in Georgia.
  • PGY1 and PGY2 residency in drug information, drug policy, formulary management, medication safety or equivalent experience in the specialty area.
  • Experience in a large academic health-care system is preferred.
  • Pharmacy specialty board certification is preferred.
  • Experience managing large projects and basic knowledge of EPIC or EMR functionality is preferred.

  • Proficiency in literature evaluation and summation.
  • Ability to collect and collate data using Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to analyze and apply data to make evidence-based decisions.
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on attention to detail.
  • Strong project and time management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to proactively engage multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with individuals from various disciplines across the healthcare system to accomplish common goals.
  • Ability to proactively coordinate and implement system initiatives.
