Overall Summary
The Accounting Analyst's main function is to own and administer the calculation system for Commission and Royalty payments, working closely with internal teams to ensure accurate calculations and timely payments. Additional responsibilities include financial analysis and reporting for the management team, conduct research, accurately maintain the general ledger, perform account reconciliations and carryout additional duties as required within the Finance department.
Your duties will include:
Commissions
  1. Own all aspects of the process to prepare for and accurately calculate commissions for the distributors and their sales representatives for inclusion in monthly commission payments. This includes updating a variety of Excel worksheets for commission adjustments, uploading data into TM1, creating & entering journal entries and generating payment vouchers.
  2. Compile and organize supporting documents for the distributor payments.
  3. Prepare and update monthly reconciliations of related general ledger accounts.
  4. Collaborate with the Sales Ops Team to ensure accurate contracts are on file and fully comprehend the contract specifics - length of agreement, commission rate, exclusions, additional commission rate specifics.
  5. Maintain process documentation to ensure efficiency
  6. Serve as an information source for all commission related questions both internally and externally by answering distributor inquiries, researching and providing resolution to any distributor issues, as approved by the VP Commercial Operations and the VP Finance.
Royalties
    1. Own all aspects of the process to prepare for and accurately calculate royalties on a monthly basis. This includes running processes in the TM1 system and creating & entering journal entries.
    2. Full comprehension of the contract specifics - length of agreement, royalty rate, applicable products
    3. Create license statements and vouchers quarterly for payment.
    4. Monthly review of the royalty data to ensure expired items/agreements are removed from the calculation.
    5. Add items to the royalty system (TM1) when new contracts are approved.
    6. Maintain hospital affiliation process to ensure accurate calculations
    7. Complete balance sheet reconciliations
    8. Serve as an information source for all royalty related questions both internally and externally
    9. Complete Special Projects upon request

This position requires a thorough knowledge of accounting theory, its practical application and working knowledge of financial statement disclosure. The candidate must possess excellent people, organizational and communication skills. This position requires general knowledge of MicroPort's operations in order to effectively participate in the development of strategy and in planning activities. The candidate must possess a thorough understanding and knowledge of automated computer systems and alternatives that can be applied to solving accounting/control requirements and to aiding in the design of new or enhancement of the current automated accounting system. Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, JDEdwards is essential.

YOUR EDUCATION
Required: Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline
YOUR EXPERIENCE
2 years of related accounting experience preferred
