Aircraft Mechanic (Electronics): North Island, CA
The Mechanic 1 (US Navy or India/Multi-Foreign component) performs maintenance on aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, hydraulic systems, engines, avionics, armament, gear boxes, rotor systems, plane captain qualifications, flight schedule and operations, ventilation and heating systems, and phase and preservation services. Working with foreign countries/cultures is required.
Responsibilities include:
- Repairing and rebuilding all aircraft systems, including aircraft structure systems, engine/gearbox/rotor systems, and all avionic systems.
- Reading and interpreting manufacturers' and maintenance manuals, OPNAV 4790, service bulletins, and technical data to determine feasibility and methods of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
- Performing 175-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other inspections, examining engines for cracks and oil leaks, and inspecting turbine engines and components for various defects.
- Replacing or repairing worn or damaged components using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment.
- Adjusting, repairing, and replacing electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories, performing preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and ensuring the safety of flight items.
- Specializing in one or more areas: engine, airframes, electrical, or armament repair.
- Participating in housekeeping and safety programs, including Hazmat handling.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds, constant sitting while using a computer terminal, and constant mental alertness are required. Must possess planning and organizing skills.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of three (3) years of actual and recent O level H-60S/R/F/H Aircraft Maintenance experience.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain all required qualifications as outlined in CNAFINST 4790.2.
- Must be able to work all shifts and be flexible with work hours.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret technical data is required.
- Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
