Our PL State Management team is seeking a Data & Reporting Analyst, otherwise known as a Market Analyst in our Worcester, MA or Howell, MI location.
This is a full time, exempt role. This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Market Analyst collaborates with State Managers, Regional VPs & Territory Sales Managers to provide business reporting and base line analysis at the Market and/or Agency level. The individual focus is o-n driving PL business results based on either growth state or core state initiatives, as established by the State Manager and RVP. With oversight, provides ongoing state and agency level reporting leveraged by field and state management teams.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
- Analyze loss ratio and production trends at the Agency level, including root causes and recommendations for improvement
- Evaluate portfolio trends at state, market and Agency level including identifying outliers requiring deeper dive analysis
- Communicate findings and recommendations to State Manager, Regional VP and Territory Sales Manager. May include delivery Coordinate all Agency-level reports available across the organization (production, Q-Score, book roll metrics, etc.) and identify monthly / quarterly shifts in results to be communicated to State Manager / State Analysts and field leadership. Make recommendations for follow-up analysis as directed
- Work with individual State Managers to develop key metrics for success, and report monthly / quarterly on progress to goals. (goals can be established by market, by Agent or state level)
- Begin to be involved in agency relationships and use data to work with field and state teams to better understand the market
- In conjunction with State Managers within assigned territory, achieves the annual Personal Lines plan for loss ratio, premium, new business, profile improvement and renewal retention
- Analyze blocks of business across geography, agency, time and characteristics
- Work with fellow analysts across the business to develop best practices and improved drills around Agency level analysis.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required.
- Typically has 2-3+ total years related experience, generally in financial or business analysis; preferably within the P&C industry
- Demonstrated aptitude to understand and comprehend business and financial based logic
- Proven knowledge and understanding of the insurance industry
- Analytical Thinking - Applies analytical techniques, e.g., separating a complex whole into its parts or elements to resolve problems or issues
- Relationship Building/Collaboration - Effective in cultivating strong business relationships, able to overcome obstacles and find common ground for pursuing business opportunities. Able to identify and pull the right people/functions together to create plans and resolve problems
- Manages Priorities - Identifies and executes to key priorities, recognizes problems and facilitates solutions. Innovative, knows when and how to ask for extra resources
- Results Orientation - Sets and pursues aggressive goals in support of business strategy and cascading goals. Spends time on what is important; ability to prioritize work. Creates focus; drives for and achieves results
