Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Head of Employee Relations to join Prime Residential’s (Prime’s) Talent Team. In this role you will strike a balance between driving long-term organizational goals and ensuring the well-being and engagement of Prime’s employee base.
Reporting into the SVP of HR, the Head of Employee Relations plays a pivotal role in leading Employee Relations function, focusing on critical initiatives and day-to-day operations inclusive of performance management, maintaining compliance and relevant employment laws and regulations and ongoing management of Prime’s employee engagement and retention strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
Employee Relations / Executive Business Partnership
- Nurture relationships with employees across all departments / job levels
- Provide ongoing, day to day guidance and coaching to executive partners in all of Prime’s functional areas inclusive of Property Management, Asset Management, Acquisitions, Legal and Risk Management, Capital Markets and IT with regard to employee retention / engagement, performance management, leadership development, organizational design and workforce / succession planning
- Provide guidance and support to employees at all levels across the organization in setting meaningful goals and developing skills relevant to their role (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development)
- Oversee ongoing performance management systems in collaboration with Talent Team partners; train and coach supervisors in supervisory skills, including giving/receiving feedback, coaching, performance reviews and work planning
HR Compliance
- Serve as the organizational point person for HR compliance, staying up to date on federal and state employment laws/regulations
- Collaborate with external employment counsel to ensure compliance with legal standards, address employment-related legal matters, and provide guidance on complex employment issues
- Ensure continued compliance with relevant HR laws and regulations
- Build a compliance roadmap to sustain the federal, state and local regulatory requirements, partnering inter departmental leaders and Prime’s Legal and Risk Management team; overseeing process and reporting to maintain state-by-state, country-by-country compliance of labor, leave and pay practices
- Support the development and execution of compliance training
HR Program Management
- Own, design and drive strategic improvements to our library of HR programs, policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and alignment with company direction and culture
- Maintain the Employee Handbook.
- Create infrastructure around proactive employee relations initiatives.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of effective strategies for employee retention, career development, and performance management
- Partner with Prime’s Talent Team functional leads to identify appropriate talent metrics to measure progress and impact of programs
Leadership and Talent Development
- Provide ongoing training and skill development to your team of direct reports, ensuring excellence of Prime’s client service approach, policies, programs, and procedures at all levels, while also coaching them on day-to-day benefits, leave, and policy/compliance work
- Partner with the Talent Acquisition Team to attract and hire high quality team members
Role Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, or other related and equivalent Human Resources experience required
- Active SHRM certification required
- Ten (10) years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Five (5) years of experience and deeply demonstrated knowledge of employment law, policy writing, program management
- Five (5) years of experience developing and leading talent management programs from strategy to implementation in a complex, fast paced working environment
- Able to work in Prime’s San Francisco headquarter office 3 days per week
