The Role:

As a Research Manager at Read AI, your contributions will directly influence how we harness the latest advances in machine learning and generative models to empower our users. You will utilize your advanced quantitative skills and hypothesis-testing mindset to develop methods that connect relevant concepts across a diverse array of content sources. This hands-on research and development position requires both coding expertise and a passion for building scalable machine learning and generative applications. As a Research Scientist, you'll play a key role in shaping new features and guiding our product roadmap.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and develop a team of data and research engineers.
  • Stay informed about the latest advances in machine learning, deep learning, and topic modeling, and identify opportunities to leverage new technologies for enhancing Read AI’s products.
  • Conduct research and prototype new features, collaborating closely with product, design, and engineering teams to understand product limitations and scalability opportunities.
  • Present findings and updates regularly to the data science team.
  • Conduct surveys and gather ground truth data to validate research outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to implement and maintain methodologies.
  • Contribute to hiring and career development initiatives.
  • Communicate strategy, progress, and impact to senior leadership.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in people management and team development.
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field (PhD preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience in machine learning and/or deep learning.
  • 7+ years of experience with applied statistical techniques, including inferential methods, causal methods, A/B testing, or statistical modeling.
  • 7+ years of programming experience in Python (preferred) or R.
  • Strong familiarity with Git or equivalent version control systems.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment with a high degree of autonomy and accountability.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Research positions offer a base pay range of $130,000 - $190,000, plus equity and benefits. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
