Scion is paving a path in student living and we're seeking a talented Tax Accountant to join us in executing our vision. This position will be responsible for managing income tax and real estate tax requirements.
The Tax Accountant is a strategic individual who excels in a fast-paced, agile, corporate environment. This role demands principled thinking, well-honed organization skills, a stubborn refusal to settle, and an appreciation bold innovation.
This role will work full-time out of our office in Chicago, IL.

Operational Transactions
- Prepare tax compliance and REIT testing workpapers
- Assist with data collection and review for new acquisitions
- Maintain tax log of filings and payments
- Calculate and make payments for various tax filings to multiple jurisdictions
- Assist with preparation and calculation of depreciation
- Monitor and respond to tax notices
- Maintain real estate tax data in software
- Run necessary reports for monthly real estate meeting with executive team
What We Require
- 0-1 year of experience
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- CPA or CPA-candidate preferred
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to manage time and work effectively
- Ability to work independently
- Job location is based at Scion's Chicago corporate headquarters.
- Working hours consist of standard daytime business hours.
