This is a fully onsite role, no hybrid or remote scheduling.

Position Summary : The Staff Accountant will combine strong technical accounting expertise with advanced QuickBooks skills to ensure accurate financial reporting and analysis.

The Staff Accountant must have a meticulous approach to maintaining financial records and the ability to apply US GAAP principles consistently in their work. Responsibilities will include updating financial records, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and processing disbursements and recording sales accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain and update financial records using QuickBooks with a high level of proficiency.
  2. Analyze and reconcile various accounts and assist with the preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and company policy.
  3. Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  4. Assist with monitoring incoming commissions from carriers or uplines, and ensure accurate outgoing payments are processed.
  5. Identify source of any errors/reporting discrepancies and work to resolve them promptly and identify processes to reduce likelihood of recurrence.
  6. Collaborate with the accounting department to streamline processing workflows and improve efficiency.
  7. Assist with transition to accrual accounting - recording standard accrual & amortization journal entries including monthly lease entries.
  8. Ensuring that all payments are made in a timely manner and in accordance with company policy.
  9. Function in accordance with established standards, procedures, and applicable laws.
  10. Keeping current on applicable accounting industry changes and company policies.
  11. Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

Education and Experience required:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
  3. Demonstrable Proficiency in QuickBooks.
  4. Solid understanding of the conceptual framework of US GAAP.
  5. Intermediate experience with Excel required.
  6. Multiple small to mid-size companies and/or Financial Industry experience a plus.
  7. Experience in the financial industry with a focus on commissions processing is highly desirable.

Physical Requirements

  1. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer using keyboard, mouse, and monitor.
  2. Repetitive motions for computer equipment use.
  3. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  4. Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential.
  5. Hearing, vision, and speaking within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents.
  6. Work is generally performed indoors in an office setting and requires routine bending, sitting, and stooping.
