Position Overview: As an Electrical Engineer in our Power Networks team, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing and integrating electrical systems across a variety of power generation, transmission, and distribution projects. Your deep power network understanding will enable you to design, analyse and optimise power distribution systems, helping deliver solutions that will redefine the energy landscape and revolutionise how we harness, distribute, and manage energy.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive power system designs that align with client requirements and industry standards.

  3. Designing and implementing protection and control schemes to ensure the reliability and security of power systems.
  4. Evaluating equipment specifications, such as transformers, switchgear, and generators, to ensure compatibility and optimal performance within the power network.
  5. Participating in the development of renewable energy projects, including integration of solar, wind, and energy storage systems into existing grids.
  6. Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  7. Collaborating with clients to understand their unique challenges and objectives, and delivering innovative solutions that exceed their expectations.
  8. Developing relationships with clients, identifying and pursuing project opportunities, and/or providing support and direction on tenders and bids.
  9. Staying up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and advancements in power systems technology to drive continuous improvement in project outcomes.

Qualifications:

  1. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  2. Professional Chartered Engineer status or eligibility for such recognition.
  3. Extensive experience in power system analysis, design, and optimisation, preferably within the UK energy sector.
  4. Proficiency in industry-standard software for power system modeling, such as PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or ETAP.
  5. Strong understanding of network planning principles, grid codes, and regulatory frameworks relevant to the UK power industry.
  6. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  7. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.

Benefits:

  1. Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.
  2. Comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, flexible working and more.
  3. Opportunities for professional development and continuous learning.
  4. A dynamic and inclusive work environment that promotes innovation and teamwork.
  5. Contribution to meaningful, sustainable energy projects that have a positive impact on the environment and society.

If you are a motivated and forward-thinking engineer who is passionate about shaping the energy transition, we invite you to join our team at GHD.
