Large independent physicians group seeks experienced healthcare and transactional attorney with 3-6 years of experience to join their in-houses legal team. Candidate will be responsible for drafting and negotiating a variety of vendor agreements ranging from maintenance services to purchases of imaging equipment to complex healthcare transactions. This role will also provide daily advice and counsel to management team, physicians and staff on variety of healthcare and regulatory issues as well as on occasional litigation matters involving patients, staff, physicians, and practices. Ideal candidate will be practical, professional and fully engaged in our dynamic organization and busy, collaborative legal team.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft and negotiate vendor contracts and large variety of other agreements including professional service and leased employee agreements, software license agreements, employment contracts, and confidentiality or non-disclosure agreements
  • Assist in health care regulatory issues including fraud, waste & abuse, anti-kickback, Stark and HIPAA as well as data privacy issues
  • Assists in various litigation matters including subpoenas and depositions as well as in regulatory issues before bodies such as the Medical, Nursing and Pharmacy Boards
  • Assists in insurance matters and medical malpractice
  • Draft and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with laws and mitigation of risk
  • Analyze day to day legal issues and advise management team, physicians and staff on appropriate action
  • Knowledge and experience in real estate law preferred but not required
  • Maintain knowledge of and familiarity with state and federal laws and regulations impacting healthcare organization including compliance issues associated with federal healthcare programs and managed care contracts
  • Build and maintain positive and professional collaborative working relationships
Requirements:
  • JD from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
  • Preferred license in Ohio
  • At least 3-6 years of healthcare legal experience
  • Extensive experience with healthcare compliance laws and regulations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong writing and drafting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely with an ability to adapt for different audiences
  • Self-motivated, hard-working and professional
  • Consistent good judgment
  • Ability to build strong, collaborative working relationships and to work independently
  • Intellectual curiosity and desire to continue to learn and develop
  • Proficiency in MS Office and similar software
