Stanley Consultants is currently seeking a Senior Structural Engineer for our Chicago, IL office.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Lead and perform engineering design tasks and coordinate with CADD teams in developing plans, specifications, and estimates for preliminary and final design of steel and concrete bridges, walls, and minor structures (Culverts, mast arms, etc.)
- Identify and understand technical requirements of design projects and implement engineering principles to develop solutions, staffing and execution to include quality control of work.
- Identify, interpret, and apply appropriate design standards and codes; ensure compliance with contract documents and coordinates with other disciplines.
- Participate in technical meetings and discussions; strategize solutions to complex or unique technical problems assisting in the development of scope, fees, project execution and planning.
- Identify technical differentiators and develop schemes for key project pursuits.
- Assist in providing construction assistance, including reviews of shop drawings, Requests for Information (RFIs) and other construction related issues.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one state, with the ability to obtain an Illinois Structural Engineer (SE) license within 1 year (IL SE is required to fulfill requirements of this position).
- At least 15 years' structural/bridge engineering design experience.
- Strong all-around theoretical knowledge of structural engineering principles.
- Experience with the design of multiple bridge types in concrete and steel, wall systems, and minor structures.
- Design experience with AASHTO LRFD, AISC, ACI, and other North American design codes and standards
- Proficiency in MathCAD, STAAD Pro, LPILE, LEAP Bridge software, MDX, Bentley/MicroStation products, Midas, LARSA 4D, or other equivalent engineering standard bridge software
- Proficiency in seismic and non-linear analysis as well as soil structure interaction analysis and post-tensioned concrete.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master of Science (MS) or PhD in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
- Technical expertise in steel bridges, long span bridges, bridges over water.
- Steel plate / box / truss, straight / curved experience
Stanley's Approach to Flexibility
While some members choose to work out of their local office on a full-time basis, we offer a hybrid schedule for eligible positions consisting of two days a week in the office, two days a week remotely, and Friday being a flexible day that can be worked either in the office or at home. Eligible roles can also offer a compressed workweek schedule. Members who participate will be assigned a 9/80 work schedule, meaning every other Friday off!
