TITLE: Retail Sales Analyst

SALARY RANGE: $55,000 - 80,000 per year depending on qualifications and experience

REPORTS TO : Director of Analytics

POSITION SUMMARY/ OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY

The Retail Sales Analyst is responsible for collaborating with our sales team, analytics team, executive team, and our clients in analyzing and creating sales reports. Work will dominantly be interacting with clients, determining client needs, and creating custom dashboards in an existing Power BI platform. There will be opportunities to do sales forecasts, budget planning, and project management focused on our data products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:  

  • Build analytical tools to help assess the retail marketplace and our client's performance.
  • Automate workstreams that are used to drive value for our clients.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analysis for clients looking to grow their business.
  • Conduct market and category sizing analyses to help clients better understand their opportunities.
  • Analyze and evaluate sales performance based on predetermined metrics.
  • Create Power BI and Excel dashboard models to help drive strategic decisions and track ongoing tests/projects.
  • Strong Organizational Skills
  • Assist in data, report, and dashboard management, basic troubleshooting, and other tasks required.
  • Participate in regular client-facing meetings.
  • Need to bring forward new ideas for analysis, segmentation, and analytical dashboards/projects.
  • Provide industry insights (based on provided sources)

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Expert in MS Excel
  • Previous experience in Power BI
  • Functional in Python 3 and SQL Server
  • Excellent problem-solving and time-management skills
  • Strong computer/technical skills
  • Proficient in MS PowerPoint 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Independent worker with minimum supervision

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older

Education : Bachelor's degree strongly preferred; High School Diploma required.  

Experience Level:  Must have above-listed proficiencies in our stack (Excel, Python, SQL Server, Power BI) or comparable tools and a willingness to learn. Ability to work without constant supervision. Proven as a forward thinker and problem solver going above and beyond' the requests of the client, the retailer, or the scope of the project. Proven success with the following behaviors: Detail orientated, organizational skills, time management, and proficiency in multi-tasking. 

Tools and Technology:  Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Python 3, SQL Server, Power BI, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Extensive use of proprietary systems that track sales, expenses, service orders, performance management ratings, etc. Significant understanding of remote business tools such as smartphones, tablets, and/or laptop use, including troubleshooting issues with connectivity.  

Language Ability:  Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of peers or employees of the organization, both one-on-one, in groups, and via teleconferencing.

Reasoning Ability : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to translate business process requirements into training and/or staffing plans. Ability to make choices necessary to complete performance objectives to ensure client satisfaction. Communicates in a practical, analytical, thoughtful, flexible, and self-confident manner.  

Work Environment: Two Corporate office environments in Smyrna, GA with potential local travel to client offices, retail stores, and training or convention venues.  

Physical Demands: Must have and maintain sufficient strength, agility, and endurance to perform during stressful (physical, mental, and emotional) situations encountered on the job without compromising your health and well-being or that of your fellow employees or clients. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel and talk or hear. Lifting and transporting objects such as samples, computer laptops, and peripherals. Applicable physical activities involved with local or long-distance travel.  

Consults or Interacts With : All levels of staff, management, executives, clients, customers, retail sales personnel, vendors, and others in the management of services delivery and oversight in assigned locations and markets. Must be professional and presentable. Serves as an extension of the client's team and needs to portray the image of the client.
