Our client, a leading global industrial gas manufacturer with applications in multiple markets is currently seeking a talented Mechanical Engineering professional for their Food Engineering Group located in Southwest suburbs of Chicago.



In this collaborative role, you will assist with the design, specification, and installation of their standard product line of food freezing equipment. The Design Engineer will work closely with Business Development Managers to support the development of offerings that meet the unique aspects of our customers’ needs and expectations. Will work independently and make technical decisions based on full awareness of viability, cost and other benefits. Assist with the development and implementation innovative solutions.



Responsibilities:

  • Will work closely with Food production team to understand key equipment requirements and troubleshoot customer operational issues. Commercial offerings consist of food freezing equipment, wastewater treatment equipment, as well as other industrial process equipment.
  • Gain an understanding or our standard product line equipment and their capabilities.
  • Work with team members to assist in resolving technical and quality issues
  • Participates in multi-functional teams to establish solutions
  • Meets with customers to discuss program growth opportunities or changes
  • Travel up to 25% in US



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical engineering required.
  • 3+ years experience working with in Food Processing equipment or closely related industry.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaborate as part of a team.
  • Effective organizational, verbal/written communication, and problem solving/analytical skills
  • Demonstrated 3D modeling of mechanical systems and an understanding of how to convert 3D models into two-dimensional engineering drawing required.
  • Working knowledge of thermodynamics.
  • Willingness to work at the food or industrial production facility.
  • An understating of control system design (eg Allen Bradley RS Logix™ 500 and Programming Allen Bradley PanelView™ Plus graphic terminals); experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs across multiple organizational disciplines preferred.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently while prioritizing issues and tasks.
