General Responsibility


The Chief Real Estate officer provides oversight for both residential and commercial real estate activities. The ideal candidate must possess a comprehensive understanding of land acquisition, planning, financing and project development. Success in this role hinges on adeptly navigating the intricacies of real estate operations while aligning decisions with the organization's overarching mission and responsiveness to community and the broader demand. Real Estate Development is crucial to the organization’s strategic objectives, making it imperative for the individual to exhibit a blend of expertise, foresight, and dedication to community revitalization. Specific Responsibilities

  • Coordinates land use and development plans consistent with the corporation’s community development objectives including single family, multifamily and commercial projects.
  • Coordinates all aspects of land acquisition including acquiring new parcels of land for FWCRC’s Homes, multifamily development, and commercial development as well as land banking for future opportunities
  • Responsible for research/due diligence/feasibility of projects (new and existing) to meet the corporation’s development objectives including obtaining and reviewing contracts, terms sheets, title reports, boundary surveys, environmental histories, easements, utility availability, financial proformas and all other matters affecting development feasibility.
  • Collaborate with internal and external project teams, independently and strategically to advance project opportunities, implement timelines and develop recommendations for project content.
  • Lead professional and effective presentations to internal and external audiences.
  • Utilize entrepreneurial skills to network and build strong relationships internally and externally with the goal of acquiring new clients, projects, and revenue.
  • Manage the real estate development pipeline for Fifth Ward CRC
  • Develop proposals and solicit funding and investments for financing land acquisition, construction and development of projects.
  • Provide oversight to and/or serves as project manager during development (both pre and post) of commercial projects
  • Responsible for maintaining, assembling data and submission related to compliance reporting for development projects and financing
  • Coordinates meetings and correspondence among development team members.
  • Drafts contracts pursuant to company policies and current pricing schedules for final approval by President
  • Inspects and accepts each completed house/project from construction manager/ contractor. Monitors progress and subject to satisfactory completion and correction of deficient items. Ensures all deficient items t are completed prior to the closing date, or final acceptance.
  • Attending professional development, networking events and training seminar and continue to develop knowledge and experience working with various technology environments, platforms, applications, and tools/utilities.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree within business, economics, urban planning, finance, construction management or public administration, MUP, MPA, or MBA desirable but not a requirement.
  • 5+ year(s) experience with relevant work experience and specific knowledge in areas of focus (economic development, housing, real estate, and/or redevelopment) with either private or public entity(s)
  • Supervisory experience required. Has a demonstrated ability to work well with others and provide leadership to a small team.
  • Knowledge, skills and passion for the principles and practice connected to housing, development, social impact and equity, redevelopment, economic development, and community development.
  • Excellent analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional verbal, presentation, and written communication, collaboration, and time management
  • Ability to multi-task, work well independently in a fast-paced environment and be highly self-motivated
  • Motivation to work extended hours and travel as needed to meet the needs of the organization and growth of the community.
