About the Role:
The Intake Lead provides direct supervision over Facility Specialist personnel who are responsible for conducting intake operations for migrant guests within the Migrant Processing Day Center. The San Diego Migrant Processing Day Center (MPDC) provides travel coordination services to asylum seekers as well as essential support services. Must have great communication skills and be fully bilingual in English / Spanish. Must be able to work in a high-speed and diverse environment. Comfortable dealing with ambiguity. Must maintain a respectful relationship with the guests and provide a high level of responsiveness and social awareness.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Ensure sufficient staff are assigned to the Intake area based on daily volume of guests entering the facility
  • Ensure all required demographic information is captured in the system of record to include the identification of single adults, family units and those who claim specific food allergies.
  • Greet residents/guests into the facility and provide arrival general information
  • Communicate necessary information to the facility guests as they arive
  • Assist and offer support to facility guests such as and not limited to medical and travel assistance
  • Communicate the available community resources and aides
  • Assist with intake, crowd control, facility process flows, transportation schedules, etc.
  • Ability to maintain guest privacy by not providing any information about their stay or confirming any of the guest's identification
  • Ability to maintain and establish rapport with guests
  • Comfortable with high volume operations with multi levels of complexity
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma
  • 1 year experience working with migrant populations, emergency response or other work related to working with vulnerable populations
  • 1 year of supervisory experience in similar operations
  • Bilingual in English / Spanish
Work Environment
This role is onsite in the San Diego area at a Migrant Processing Day Center . Tasks/assignments are dynamic and will change based on needs and resource availability, meaning this role is expected to provide additional administrative support, including the completion of data entry and other duties, as needed.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week, which typically requires shifts during operating hours. Shifts are dependent on the position and needs of the operation. Personnel supporting this operation will be provided with a set schedule. Hours may vary depending on needs and may at times include travel, evenings, or weekends to meet specific project requirements.
Condition of employment:
  • Complete a rigorous culture and competency testing process
  • Complete a Drug Test
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • A valid US Driver's license
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance Tier 2
Security Clearance Requirements:
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a government background investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Must be a U.S Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Residency requirement - 3 consecutive years in the last 5 years.

Physical Demands
To perform the essential functions of the job, qualified candidates must be able to perform the following: reaching, grasping, hearing/listening, seeing/observing, mobility to sit for extended periods of time, carry, load and unload luggage up to 50lbs. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Required to push/pull objects occasionally/frequently. May be required to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to heat/cold/noise. Position does require the ability to read written documentation from a computer screen throughout the workday.
Pay: $22 per hour
