Responsibilities

• A Data Architect will design, develop, manage and determine how an enterprise’s data will be stored and utilized.
• Identify strategic data requirements of an enterprise and design models to ensure such data requirements align with the architecture of the enterprise.
• Partner with a cross-functional team, executive leadership, subject matter experts, and master data stewards to contribute to a holistic data governance strategy and enterprise-wide implementation of the strategy.
• Develop a business case for modernizing and expanding the enterprise's data warehouse to improve efficiency and provide employees with consistent and reliable access to key data.
• Create and maintain up-to-date documentation pertaining to the definition of an enterprise-wide data strategy, along with a roadmap for its execution.
• Work with business domain owners to develop the capabilities to analyze, design, develop, maintain, and enhance data across the organization.
• Drive out key global business requirements, work with cross-functional teams, and influence data-related decisions, translating them into workable requirements.
• Challenge any requests that may be unreasonable or unnecessary, ensuring that project deliverables are met according to requirements.
• Create and provide structured training and/or content for other IT members.
• Provide detailed knowledge and support to all levels of the organization as required.

Essential Functions

• Support business initiatives to ensure the enterprise follows best practices for data standards and data management.
• Examine data sets, identify patterns, and use that information to help Americold gain a competitive advantage.
• Envision data pipelines and how data will flow through the enterprise.
• Design, document, build, and implement database architectures and applications.
• Build and support the capability to develop and optimize definitions and specifications of data extraction, transformation, and load for analytics and extending business system solutions.
• Manage the partnership with Data Integration Hubs around data modeling, data mappings, data validation, hierarchy management, and overall security.
• Provide continuous enhancement and review of MDM matching rules, data quality, and validation processes.
• Determine upgrades and improvements to current data architectures.
• Build data models for database structures, analytics, and AI applications.
• Create an inventory of the enterprise’s master data and store the data in an easily accessible manner while ensuring protection from unauthorized access.
• Integrate new systems and functions like security, performance, scalability, reliability, and data recovery.
• Develop supporting Data Quality programs and metrics.
• Support and build in-house MDM skills around various MDM technologies, Data Quality tools, database systems, analytical tools, and Big Data platforms.
• Interface directly with business and process partners to understand their needs and objectives first-hand.
• Collaborate with other sub-units of the enterprise architecture to develop data solutions and models for the organization’s needs.
• Continually monitor, refine, and report data management system performance.
• Research new opportunities and create methods to acquire data.
• Prepare time estimates for a project and detailed time estimates for each program within the project.
• Work closely with the internal/external customer responsible to perform any tasks related to critical software and/or process alterations.
• Generate and compile corrective action documents, complete with probable causes and possible solutions to systems issues and follow through to deployment of solutions.
• Maintain detailed knowledge of where and how assigned disciplines are utilized across the organization.
• Establish a close working relationship with the sites to create and maintain a cohesive and connected business system to support the needs of the business.
• Identify and communicate key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or equivalent; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Experience in data management systems and database platforms required.
• Experience in enterprise reporting and dashboard solutions, Power BI, etc.
• Performs work with little to no supervision and provides guidance to lower-level & less experienced developers.
• Acts as project leader on large, complex projects.
• Maintains a senior-level workload.
• Fully capable of working at the highest technical level.
• Has 7+ years of relevant experience with implementing enterprise data solutions.
• Database and cloud computing design, architectures, and data lakes.
• Demonstrated planning, task organizing, and execution skills.
• Programming languages, including Java, Python, and C/C++, as well as unified modeling language.
• Strong communication skills (written/verbal), with an emphasis on the ability to translate complex concepts between business and technical groups.
• Experience and/or knowledge of FMEA, ITIL, COBIT, ISO, and Project Management Methodologies.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

• Experience with implementing, configuring, and maintaining enterprise software applications such as WMS, Distribution, Transportation, and Labor Management is a benefit.
• Machine learning, predictive modeling, and natural language processing.
• Data management and reporting technologies, predictive analytics, data visualization, and unstructured data.
• Knowledge of transportation and warehouse industries is a benefit.
