Position Summary:
The Sr. R&D Project Engineer will contribute to new product development by managing a variety of engineering projects, process improvements, organization, communication, and technical project management activities. You will be an important contributor to realizing the next generation of interventional robotic platforms. This is a collaborative opportunity where you will work cross-functionally with R&D engineers, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Manufacturing, and external vendors. This role is suited for energetic and self-starter engineers with a continuous improvement mindset and strong problem-solving skills who love to work on a wide variety of projects and tasks and learn and grow fast in a dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and drive a variety of technical and process improvement projects of different sizes and disciplines.
- Help with vendor communications and procurements.
- Prepare specifications for off-the-shelf components based on safety ratings and robustness.
- Advise design directions to follow various regulatory standards.
- Author technical documents to guide engineering teams.
- Verify regulatory compliance of engineering components.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years electromechanical R&D engineering experience, with at least 3 years in medical device or other regulated industries required.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Robotics Engineering or a closely related field is required.
- Experience in managing engineering projects required.
- Must have previous experience launching products.
- Demonstrated CAD proficiency desired; Solidworks preferred.
- Experience in off-the-shelf component selection for regulated industries highly desired.
- Experience in design verification is highly desired.
- Experience interpreting various regulatory standards required.
- Experience with statistical tools and software such as Minitab is desired.
- Ability to multitask and work under aggressive deadlines is critical to success.
- Execute assigned projects and duties with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in using MS Office is required.
