Cloud Engineer

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cloud Engineer to join our IT team. This role is critical in maintaining the firm’s cloud-based systems by performing regular patching, updates, and proactive maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring the configuration, security, stability, and performance of our virtual compute environment.
- Develop and implement a robust patch management strategy for all virtual servers to ensure they are protected from known vulnerabilities.
- Perform regular system updates and patches in accordance with industry best practices and compliance requirements.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure minimal downtime.
- Work closely with the cybersecurity team to identify and mitigate potential security threats.
- Collaborate with the IT operations team to ensure that backup and disaster recovery processes are in place and effective.
- Provide technical guidance for the deployment of new applications and services within the cloud environment.
- Document maintenance schedules, patches performed, and any changes made to the system configuration.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical issues.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and cloud service provider offerings to continually enhance the firm's cloud infrastructure.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience – 5-7 years as a Cloud Engineer or similar role with a focus on computer maintenance and patch management.
- Strong knowledge of cloud service providers, particularly Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Experience with Windows Server and Linux platforms.
- Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash).
- Familiarity with server virtualization technologies and containerization.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure or Configuration as Code.
- Solid understanding of networking, security, and database management.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are an advantage.
