Key responsibilities for this role will include (but are not limited to):
• Developing structural design calculations, plans, and contract documents in line with applicable design standards and regulations
• Performing structural analysis for new designs and existing structures, including bridges and transportation infrastructure
• Reviewing and refining conceptual design alternatives to create cost-effective and innovative solutions
• Conducting inspections of bridges and preparing detailed inspection reports
Required and desired skillsets, experience, and qualifications for this role:
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Virginia preferred
• Familiarity with design standards such as AASHTO and experience with state-specific criteria (preferred but not required)
• Proficiency in structural engineering software and tools such as MicroStation or AutoCAD
• Ability to climb ladders, perform inspections at heights, and travel within the region as necessary
• Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create Excel trackers, and be able to use Word and PowerPoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
