As an Specialist, Insulin Pump Clinical your primary role is to generate new pump referrals by providing clinical support to prescribing insulin pump physicians and diabetes educators.

Responsibilities
    Provides clinical support and education that result in the new insulin pump referrals
  • Provides diabetes education (i.e. carb counting, BGM training) to patients
  • Administers patient assessment, evaluation, pre-pump education, pump training, and post-training follow-up
  • Collaborates and reports patient status to prescribing physicians or educators
  • Provides insulin pump in-services to physicians, educators, payers, schools and CCS staff
  • Provides clinical support to Sales employees
  • Provides telephonic education to CCS Medical patients, as directed
  • Completes data collection and proper documentation of all education sessions
  • Assists in the implementation and evaluation of diabetes training & education programs for internal employees
  • Participates in educational programs and in-house meetings on product information and new procedures
  • Assist in the development of diabetes educational materials together with the Diabetes Education Team and Marketing
  • Provides one-on-one instruction for employees as needed
  • Maintains a high degree of confidentiality at all times due to access to sensitive information
  • Maintains regular, predictable, consistent attendance and is flexible to meet the needs of the department
  • Follows all Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA, and Private Insurance regulations and requirements
  • Abides by all regulations, policies, procedures and standard
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university and a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES), or the equivalent combination or education and experience.
  • Current Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) by National Certification Board of Diabetes Educators
  • Recent adult insulin pump training experience (one-on-one and group sessions) is required and pediatric insulin pump training experience preferred
  • Current certification(s) on available insulin pumps preferred
  • Current state licensure as Registered Nurse or Registered Dietitian / Licensed Dietitian
  • Excellent public speaking and presentations skills
  • Possesses the skills to work independently and be self-directed
  • Experience with developing relationships with physicians and/or other diabetes healthcare professionals
  • Proficient with various Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Advanced knowledge of processing methodologies and medical terminology
  • Knowledge of CCS Medical product line(s), general coverage, clinical criteria, regulatory and compliance standard
