Description
Northern Trust is looking for experienced modelers/data scientists to join the Risk Advanced Analytics team. Responsibilities include working with large and complex data sets (both internal and external data) to develop, monitor and support the implementation of advanced analytics solutions and regulatory models.

Major Duties:

  1. Perform data analysis and advanced modeling techniques to solve complex business problems, provide insights and create innovative solutions;
  2. Create predictive models for estimating probability of default and losses as part of the Bank’s capital adequacy process;
  3. Design/Monitor/Implement quantitative models to forecast revenue for various businesses under different macroeconomic scenarios as part of the annual stress testing exercise;
  4. Exercise independent judgement in identifying and resolving problems within established guidelines and development framework;
  5. Interact with the Data Analytics team to request and ensure high quality data are utilized in the model development process;
  6. Communicate regularly with key business partners, management, oversight committees, and regulators by acting as a subject matter expert.

Knowledge:

  1. Excellent analytical skills and high attention to detail;
  2. Experience using statistical programming languages such as Python, SAS, SQL;
  3. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation and data visualization skills;
  4. Ability to effectively communicate with peers, senior management, and overseas partners;
  5. Ability to work under pressure, manage and prioritize multiple deliverables;

Experience:

  1. Related experience of 3-5 years is preferred;
  2. Advanced degree in a related field (math, statistics, economics) or equivalent career experience preferred - PhD in a quantitative field would be a plus;
  3. Related Industry qualification is preferred.
