Primary Purpose:
The primary purpose of the Student Services Academic Counseling Coordinator is to coordinate, advise and provide training and awareness to campus staff that will lead to cultivating the skills, attitudes, behaviors and knowledge that at-risk students need to graduate from high school and enroll in and complete postsecondary education. The Coordinator will be responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating the program activities including managing budget and program expenditures; completing project wide data collection and analysis.
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from accredited university; Master's Degree (required)
Valid Texas Mid-management/Principal Certification/Supervisor Certification (preferred)
3-5 years of work experience in a high school setting
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  1. Working knowledge of TEC & TAC Codes related to Graduation Requirements.
  2. Working knowledge of data processing applications (and related software applications: word processing, spreadsheets, data extraction and database structures).
  3. Demonstrate ability to work independently and collaboratively with others in a fast-paced environment and meet established deadlines.
  4. Demonstrate effective communication (both written and oral form) and problem-solving skills.
  5. Ability to evaluate and adjust programs based on outcome measurement and data
  6. Strong presentation, organizational, documentation and training skills.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, policies, regulations, exhibits and guidelines as they relate to district functions.
  2. Coordinate partners to prevent duplication of services, maximize student reach, and align events, resources, and data.
  3. Coordinate with campus Academic Advising Teams on student intake and student academic planning.
  4. Coordinate providing testing support in TSI, ACT or SAT across all campuses.
  5. Coordinate the Financial Aid Process to include FAFSA Nights across all campuses throughout the year.
  6. Schedule and organize student and parent events with the respective campus staff.
  7. Prepare and present project completion reports.
  8. Maintains the confidentiality of the work and the results of the work performed.
  9. Assist in performing and/or scheduling periodic quality assurance reviews on transcripts.
  10. Participate on District committees, as assigned by the supervisor, which may focus on: the development of policies, standards and guidelines, and program implementation.
  11. Assist in development of processes and information for data clerks, PEIMS, and registrars, as needed.
  12. Demonstrates a high level of independent, ethical, and professional conduct.
  13. Supports the goals and objectives of the school district and follows all district policies
  14. To assist in the attainment of district objectives by reviewing data of potential graduates to ensure Texas graduation requirements are met prior to confirming students as graduates.
  15. Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors : Must maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem solving skills while under stress. Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written). Should be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
Safety: Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy. Being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
