We are looking for a Human Resources Director; this is an onsite only role, Monday-Friday, 8AM to 5PM, located in Lawrenceville, GA.

Annual salary of $130k-150k, DOE, with annual bonus

Role and Responsibilities

  • Align HR strategy and activities to the employee life cycle program: recruit, develop, retain.
  • Set an effective vision for HR in the division.
  • Champion efforts with management to identify, strengthen, and build leadership and management bench strength.
  • Establish and reinforce Woodgrain culture and values.
  • Lead strategic initiatives to attract, retain, and motivate employees through Woodgrain’s compensation policy.
  • Partner with division management to anticipate and plan for future production and talent needs.
  • Collaborate with leadership to create and maintain an HR budget that can achieve business goals.
  • Participate on the HR Leadership Team in developing policies, evaluations and employee development programs.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President in developing and implementing division-wide HR objectives, projects, and goals.

HR Management

  • Develop and implement automated HR systems to improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the division.
  • Maintain a well-organized paperless HR function.
  • Use data and facts to effectively manage HR.
  • Conduct research and analyze division trends including review of reports and metrics from the HRIS.
  • To promote culture, plan for team member events.
  • Develop and direct a performance management system that is aligned to division goals.
  • Identify and establish wage and salary structures.
  • Monitor the division’s exposure to risk. Act as primary contact for WC insurance, EEOC, DOL, and labor counsel.
  • Manage risk for the division by ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; review and modify policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Respond to employee relation issues such as complaints, harassment allegations, and civil rights violations. Conduct fact-based investigations and complete necessary documentation.
  • Lead and direct investigations, progressive discipline, and employee relations to ensure all employees are treated fairly and with respect.
  • Continuously improve all automated pre-employment programs.
  • Direct the service award program.
  • Ensure process discipline for all HR related activities across all locations.
  • Drive process discipline for data entry to maintain quality HR and payroll information. Compile reports for the division.

Training & Development

  • Develop and provide content for specific internal training programs to include monthly safety and annual compliance.
  • Be a lead proponent for safety.
  • Develop and deliver management training programs as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of HR trends, best practices, regulatory changes, new technologies, talent management, and employment law.
  • Facilitate professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
  • Oversee the training, development, and performance of HR managers and all HR professionals in the division.
  • Train division-wide management and supervisors on Woodgrain standard operating procedures and suggest updates to best practices.
  • Train and develop HR managers, generalists, specialists, and clerical staff.
  • Work with site and HR managers within the division to train on HR policies, procedures, laws, standards and regulations.
  • Actively engage in empowering the growth and development of all employees. Partner with the Vice President to facilitate the development of next generation leaders by anticipating talent needs before they impact the business.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and changes impacting the HR field, and recommend updates to Woodgrain practices as appropriate.
  • Grow in professional development and maintain professional HR certification. Seek additional responsibilities.

Safety and Compliance

  • Oversee a functioning safety program at each operation within the division. Work with managers and employees to ensure they are taking responsibility for safety on their operations.
  • Maintain knowledge of employment law and legislation (federal, state and local) and ensure compliance at all operations within the division.
  • Oversee the management of division workers compensation cases. For each claim, direct efforts between the insurance adjuster, related attorney, manager and injured person. Direct and create strategy for settlement proceedings in the division.
  • Use sound judgement and coordinate with legal counsel to advise on legal issues.

Job Specifications

  • Minimum education: BA degree in Human Resources or Business Administration
  • 10 years of experience in broad-based HR initiatives
  • 5 years of experience at the Senior or Executive level in a company of similar size (~2000 headcount)
  • PHR or SPHR certification or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of employment, labor laws, and wage and hour regulations at federal and multi-state levels is required.
  • Experience with Unions is preferred.
  • Proficiency with HRIS and ATS
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
