Hagerty is currently seeking recovery staff to support local government recovery work in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene in Florida. The Recovery Senior Managing Associate will lead teams and leverage their extensive experience in disaster recovery programs and advise clients who are navigating complex government funding projects. A successful candidate for this role will be a polished professional with expertise in the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance (PA) and/or Individual Assistance (IA) Program to take initiative and act as a high-level project lead and/or manager. The Recovery Senior Managing Associate will support our clients on-site.
Responsibilities for the Recovery Senior Managing Associate Include:
- Support local governments and private non-profits with their comprehensive recovery from natural disasters.
- Heavily integrate with government clients who are managing multi-billion dollar, long- and short-term disaster recovery projects by guiding them through administrative and policy challenges.
- Lead individual program teams or overall recovery client engagements from both an operational and administrative perspective.
- Identify and implement process improvements opportunities to increase overall team and project productivity and efficiency.
- Contribute to drafting guidance to clients on eligibility of FEMA PA and/or IA costs/activities related to these disasters.
- Provide clients with FEMA policy subject matter expertise to help drive client decision-making.
Qualifications for the Recovery Senior Managing Associate Include:
- A minimum of four (4) years of experience in the FEMA PA and/or IA Program.
- A minimum of six (6) years of total professional work experience.
- Prior leadership and project management experience.
- A comprehensive understanding of FEMA PA and/or IA policy.
- Experience effectively working with or managing a team.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to produce technically and programmatically sound deliverables with little oversight.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP), Microsoft Word, and other Microsoft Office products.
Preferred Qualifications for the Recovery Senior Managing Associate Include:
- A master’s degree pertinent to emergency management, accounting, finance, engineering, public administration, business administration, or similar field.
- Consulting experience at the federal, state, and/or local level of government; with universities; and/or in the private sector.
- Experience working for FEMA, grantees, or subgrantees to implement FEMA’s PA and/or IA Program.
- Knowledge of other disaster recovery program funding, such as the Community Development Block Grant - Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) program.
- Experience managing projects of various sizes, to include developing a project plan, managing a team, creating and managing project budgets, and presenting deliverables to a client.
- Experience developing damage estimates, scopes of work, and cost estimates for FEMA projects.
- An understanding of, and experience with, FEMA’s PA Delivery Model, Grants Manager, and Grants Portal.
- Proven ability to provide excellent customer service and maintain client/professional relationships/partnerships.
Compensation for the Recovery Senior Managing Associate Includes:
Salary range of $85,000 - $150,000. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and training, licensure and certifications, internal equity, location, travel requirements, and other business and organizational needs.
