Position Summary:

Reporting to the Site General Manager and dotted line to the VP - HR, the HR Director is a key member of the site leadership team and will be accountable for facilitating and executing the HR Strategy, managing the union relationship, talent management, company HR policies and programs, and employee relations in support of the overall business objectives of the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as the site HR functional leader and provide strategic business support which aligns with HR best practices and company objectives.
  2. Lead the site’s Human Resources function, ensuring accurate interpretation and administration of HR policies and programs.
  3. Build a strong and respectful working relationship with the union committee and members.
  4. Negotiate with unions in collective bargaining negotiations (5-year agreement).
  5. Handle and investigate grievances.
  6. Drive performance-based culture.
  7. Build and foster an effective working relationship with employees, supervisors, managers, leadership team, and HR Team.
  8. Assist in business development strategy and formulate local HR strategy in conjunction with VP-HR.
  9. Provide coaching, change management support, and guide managers and employees through action or influence to support career development, business decision making, and performance management.
  10. Implement and annually update compensation program, monitor performance review program, maintain budget, and responsible for locational reporting.
  11. Maintain collaborative partnerships with Global HR Team for effectiveness and may lead specialized projects and/or services.
  12. Monitor key trends, propose solutions.

With assistance of HR generalist and administrator, deliver high quality day-to-day HR administrative duties including: new hire orientations, benefits administration, onboarding, off-boarding, communications, and wellness events. Administer and coordinate leave of absences and disability management programs. Support Talent acquisition and recruitment efforts and manage the interview process. Administer compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations for employment law including labor, compensation, EEO and ADA, and affirmative action planning. Promote a positive work environment through communications and maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and integrity.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  1. Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) in Human Resources or similar discipline with a minimum of 8 years of progressive HR experience.
  2. Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment (preferred).
  3. Understanding of Federal labor law and compliance.
  4. Strong Business acumen.
  5. Ability to develop relationships and influence at all levels of the organization.
  6. Strong problem-solving and critical/analytical thinking skills.
  7. Demonstrated ability to set priorities and manage a variety of tasks to achieve results.
  8. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.
  9. Microsoft Office and HRIS system proficiency.
