Functions:

  1. Manage staff hiring, training and supervision.
  2. In collaboration with the Regional Manager, recruit, interview and recommend for hire staffing for assigned store. Ensure adequate staffing levels for optimum customer service.
  3. Oversee scheduling of staff, monitor accuracy and submit payroll for processing.
  4. In conjunction with the Regional Manager, prepare and administer corrective action and disciplinary notices in accordance with TSA Policy.
  5. Ensure that all TSA policies and practices concerning employee relations are complied with.
  6. Promptly forward all employment related paperwork to the HR Department at the ARC.
  7. Provide training, supervision and support to beneficiaries that are assigned to the store as part of their work therapy and communicate with program staff about the beneficiaries' performance.
  8. In conjunction with the Regional Manager, develop, communicate and implement strategies to set and meet production and sales goals.
  9. Supervise the product acquisition (donation) processes, production (sorting, hanging, pricing and presentation) processes and sales processes.
  10. Oversee and be proficient in all parts of the acquisition, production and sales processes.
  11. Oversee the product rotation process and be diligent in turning product over.
  12. Communicate with central warehouse to place orders for next day's processing needs.
  13. Manage store maintenance and appearance of the store with regard to safety, security, cleanliness, appearance and utility.
  14. Ensure that the store is in compliance with all OSHA and Salvation Army safety and security policies and procedures.
  15. Check to make sure displays and floor layout plans are being followed and updated.
  16. Identify and implement ways to improve appearance and appeal of store to customers.
  17. Promptly report all maintenance or repair needs and issues to the appropriate personnel at the ARC.
  18. In conjunction with the Regional Manager, develop customer development and retention plans.
  19. Create an enjoyable shopping experience.
  20. Interact positively with customers, setting the example for all staff.
  21. Manage recordkeeping and reporting procedures for the store.
  22. Maintain TSA approved cash handling procedures for opening and closing of registers.
  23. Manage the bank runs and daily deposits procedures for the store.
  24. Report Store production and sales daily.
  25. Use inventory tracking for designated product lines.
  26. Communicate with the Regional Manager /Administrator regarding all facets of the stores operations keeping them updated and sharing all incidents, concerns and ideas; and with ARC Department Heads as outlined in training.
  27. In conjunction with the Regional Manager, work to keep income and expenses within budget parameters.
  28. Manage cash handling procedures in accordance with TSA Policy.
  29. Be available for a flexible schedule to work early shifts, late shifts, and most weekends and holidays in order to observe and provide training to all store employees, as well as being prepared to transfer to other stores if the need arises.
  30. Proactively work to improve the image of The Salvation Army among staff and customers.
  31. Create a positive understanding of policies and procedures.
  32. Redirect complaints and criticism, by providing education and understanding of the program and pricing.
  33. Protect the resources under their supervision.
  34. Implement Product Control Procedures preventing shrinkage through theft or spoilage.
  35. Control property, utility and product supply waste.
  36. All other duties as assigned.
  37. Support the mission statement of The Salvation Army.
